Lady Wolves dominate All-District selections

The Rayne High Lady Wolves dominated district play during the 2015 volleyball season -- the same followed suit when announcing the All-District picks of District 3 of Division III.
Rayne leading hitter/blocker Tarya Kanonu was named the district’s MVP. Kanonu, who led the Lady Wolves in kills enroute to their return trip to the State Tournament this season, averaged 14.7 kills per game during her senior campaign in district play. She also tallied three blocks, 4.6 aces, 3.6 digs and 2.1 assists per game.
Senior teammates Charlesha Dugas, Katie Benoit, Layni Boudreaux and Charlyne Peltier were all named during First Team selections.
Dugas collected an average of 14.6 kills and 4.1 blocks this season at middle hitter/blocker, opposite Kanonu in the Rayne rotation. Dugas also collected 3.5 digs, 2 assists and 3.3 aces at the service line.
Benoit tallied an average of 7.8 kills during district play at outside hitter. The consistant senior also donated 5.6 digs, 5.6 assists and 3.7 aces for the Lady Wolves.
Boudreaux served double duty for the Lady Wolves as setter and outside hitter. She led assists with 17.3 sets to run a strong Rayne offense. She also recorded 5.3 kills while on front row, along with 4.3 digs and 5.4 aces.
Peltier also served double duty with 15.6 sets and 6.2 kills for her senior campaign. She also contributed 3.4 digs and 3.3 aces.
Rayne players named to Second Team honors were seniors Blair Bergeron and Karla Richard.
Bergeron averaged four kills at outside hitter. She also tallied four digs and two aces.
Richard was Rayne’s libero player and recorded six digs per game for the Lady Wolves as their back row player.
Senior Landri Reviere was also named during All-District honors as a member of the honorable mention squad.
Rounding out Rayne’s selections is Head Coach Stephanie Garrett who was named Coach of the Year.
“I’m glad out seniors were honored this year,” stated Garrett when discussing All-District selections. “They have played well for the past three years and helped with successful seasons.”
