Lady Wolves fall at state softball tournament

SULPHUR - Coming off a 15-0 romp of Lutcher Saturday, the tables were turned on the Lady Wolves Friday when they met Vandebilt Catholic High of Houma in the quarterfinals of the 2014 State Softball Tournament.

The Lady Terriers reversed the score in a shortened four-inning contest as they handed the Lady Wolves a 15-0 shutout.

Offensively, the Lady Wolves struggled from the start, a surprise from recent action when Rayne excelled at the plat. The lone hit of the game was delivered by senior second baseman Katelyn LeDoux late in the ball game who was 1-for-2 on the day.

Vandebilt hurler Nora Keehn had a perfect game going into the fourth inning when LeDoux slapped a single.

"I'm kinda surprised in our offense today," stated Rayne Head Coach Natalie Travasos. "We have improved our hitting game throughout the season. She (Keehn) did a good job keeping our batters at bay. Sometimes you just have days like this."

Rayne hurler Kelcie Bourgeois was tagged with the loss on the mound.
