Lady Wolves participate in Softball jamboree

LAFAYETTE - The Rayne High Lady Wolves Softball Team participated in the Acadiana High Softball Jamboree on Saturday, Feb. 21, where they split two games.
In opening action, the Lady Wolves slugged five hits and scored four runs as they claimed a 4-0 win over Church Point.
Rayne hits were led by Cecily Schexnyder with two, followed by Blair Bergeron and Katie Benoit each with one.
Kelsey Bourgeois took the mound for the Lady Wolves throwing two strikeouts for the win.
Rayne closed out the jamboree with a 4-2 loss against Pine Prairie. The Lady Wolves were limited to only one hit by Katie Benoit and a walk earned by Brittany Broussard during the loss.
Rayne’s Madison Venable held the mound for the loss throwing thre strikeouts while giving up four hits.
The Lady Wolves will host Notre Dame on today (Thursday), followed by their participation in the St. Thomas More Tournament this weekend in Lafayette.
Rayne High will open district play next week their first on Tuesday, March 3, when they host Washington Marion, followed by another home contest on Wednesday, March 4, against LaGrange.
