Lady Wolves volleyball action, claim district wins

The Lady Wolves (30-5, 10-1) improved their district slate last week with wins over Iota and Church Point as the home stretch of the 2014 volleyball season is in sight.
The Ladies were slated to host all three matches this week including Sam Houston (Oct. 20), Northwest (Oct. 21), and then try to avenge their only district loss to Teurlings today (Oct. 23), which will also be observed as “Senior Night” when senior team members will be honored during their last scheduled home game.
In Rayne’s Iota win, the Lady Wolves were forced into a four-game match.
Leading net play for Rayne was Tarya Kanonu and Charlesha Dugas. Kanonu recorded 13 kills and a block, while Dugas posted 11 kills, 2 aces and 2 blocks.
Completing net play were Katie Benoit (6 kills, 8 aces, 16 digs), and Charlyn Peltier (4 kills, 2 digs).
Layni Boudreaux led in assists with 17, along with 2 kills and 3 digs, while Tristan Mouton had 10 assists, 4 kills and 5 digs.
Defensively, Shelli Alleman recorded 13 digs and 4 aces, along with nine from Whitney Fontenot and 4 from Charlyn Peltier who also tabbed 4 kills.
In Rayne’s three-game win over Church Point, net play was spead even across the roster.
Topping kills on the day was Charlesha Dugas (6), Shelli Alleman (5) and Charlyn Peltier (4).
Layni Boudreaux (8) led with assists as Tristan Mouton and Ashley Thibodeaux each recorded four each.
Alleman also led in back row digs with nine, with Whitney Fontenot, Charlesha Dugas, Tarya Kanonu, Charlyn Peltier, Landri Reviere and Ashley Thibodeaux each donating three each.
