Rayne High teams record wins, begin district play

The Wolves and Lady Wolves remain busy during the 2015-2016 basketball season.
The Lady Wolves hosted Iota High on Tuesday and began their district slate with a win over LaGrange High on Friday.
In their 49-34 win over Iota High, the Lady Wolves opened play in the first half with a 28-19 lead and never looked back for the win.
Leading Rayne scorers on the night were Charlesha Dugas and Whitley who combined for 32 points. Both pulled down eight rebounds, while Larry rejected five blocks.
Rounding out the Lady Wolves scoring were Keysuana Moore and Amari Collins each with six points, and Tiesha Young with five.
The Lady Wolves began their district slate on Friday on a high note with a 67-26 win over LaGrange High.
With a 20-point lead after only the first frame, the Lady Wolves dominated their district opponents for their first district win.
Dugas and Larry again led Rayne scorers, combining for 33 points. Larry added 12 blocks and seven rebounds to her season totals, while Dugas had five steals.
Young and Moore each dumped in nine points, while Tajane Butler and Collins teamed up for a dozen points. Butler led Rayne steals with 14 take-aways on the night.
Rounding out Rayne points were Abbie Royer with four and Devin Sias with a bucket.
The Lady Wolves were scheduled to hit the road this week at Leesville on Tuesday, followed by a home contest Friday when they welcome DeRidder during another district contest.
Wolves
The Wolves split recent games with a win over Abbeville and a loss to Eunice High.
During their loss to Eunice High, the Wolves fell behind 32-16 at the half and was never able to regain their momentum in the 63-54 loss despite a 29-point four quarter rally.
Darian Harmon led Rayne scoring on the night with 22 points, followed by Tony Roberts and Dontray Leopaul each with eight.
In their win over Abbeville on Friday, the Wolves were able to maintain a constant game play and consistent scoring throughtout the contest for a 54-47 win over the Wilcats.
For the win, Braylin Bonnom led the Rayne scoring with 15 points, while Darian Harmon and Tony Roberts turned in 10 points each.
The Wolves were slated to host St. Martinville on Tuesday, followed by their opening district game on Friday as they will host DeRidder.
