Rayne High Wolves, Ladies to begin district

Both the Rayne High Wolves and Lady Wolves participated in holiday tournaments, but holiday gifts wer e not in store for the squads.
In their first game of the Bulldogs Holiday Tournament held at Jennings High School, the Wolves met and defeated Eunice High, 50-40.
The Wolves took a strong 28-12 first half lead and never let up for the win.
Drakkar Broussard, Charles Jones and Byron Mouton all dumped in 11 points each to lead Rayne scores.
The Wolves met St. Louis Catholic in their second game of the tournament and were handed a 70-54 loss to complete tournament play.
The Wolves are slated to travel to Abbeville on Friday, Jan. 2, before beginning their district slate on Tuesday, Jan. 6, when they hit the road once again as they travel to Washington-Marion.
Lady Wolves
In their opening game of the Northwest High Holiday Tournament, the Lady Wolves blasted Opelousas, 46-4.
Whitley Larry and Amari Charles both scored eight points to lead the Lady Wolves in scoring for the win. Larry also grabbed 20 rebounds and eight blocks.
Charlesha Dugas, Tarya Kanonu and Keysuana Moore donated six points each towards the win. Dugas also had nine assists during the win.
In their second and final game of the tournament, the Lady Wolves were defeated by Ville Platte as the Lady Bulldogs slipped by the Lady Wolves in the close 51-47 contest.
Charlesha Dugas dumped in 24 points for rayne, in addition to 11 rebounds, a steal and two assists.
Kanonu had eight points and Tanner Wilson donated a half dozen.
The Lady Wolves are slated to begin district play Wednesday when they host Beau Chene, followed by a road trip to Opelousas on Friday.
