Rayne High Wolves, Ladies collect tournament wins

The Lady Wolves (14-2 overall) captured three wins in three games of the 2015 Annual Midland Spectacular Tournament played Dec. 16-19 at Midland High School.
Rayne began their three-game winning streak of the tournament over the hosting Lady Rebels with a 47-31 win.
Leading the Rayne High charge was Charlesha Dugas with 18 points and seven rebounds.
Amari Collins hit double digits with 10 points along with five rebounds, while Whitley Larry added eight points, six rebounds and seven blocks.
In the second round of the tournament, the Lady Wolves scored a 61-7 romp over Welsh.
Dugas led Rayne scores again with 17 points and four rebounds and five steals.
Larry recorded a dozen points while Tiesha Young had eight and Collins, Tajane Butler and Keysuana Moore each dumped in six points.
In their final win of the tournament, the Lady Wolves cruised to a 67-27 win over Eilton.
Dugas lit up the scoreboard for the Lady Wolves with 35 points, along with 10 steals and five rebounds.
Larry recorded a dozen points and pulled down six rebounds and three blocks.
Collins and Butler each scored six points apiece, with Butler adding seven steals.
On Tuesday, Dec. 22, the Lady Wolves traveled to Carencro where they collected a 72-54 win over the Lady Bears.
With a slight 24-19 lead at the half, the Rayne defense halted Carencro scoring and their offense rallied the boards for a 48-point half for the win.
Dugas led Rayne scorers once again with 28 points, along with three steals and four bounds.
Collins totaled 16 points and nine rebounds, while Moore had eight points, four steals and three rebounds.
Butler and Young each donated seven points apiece, while Larry had six points, eight rebounds and four blocks.
The Lady Wolves were scheduled to compete in the Northwest Holiday Tournament Dec. 26-29, followed by a home game on Tuesday, Jan. 5, when they will host Iota High.
Wolves
The Wolves (7-5 overall) participated in the Lafayette Christian Academy Tournament Dec. 16-19 in Lafayette.
The Wolves recorded a 55-23 win over Lake Charles College Prep in the opening round of action.
Darian Harmon and Braylin Bonnom led Rayne scorers with 17 and 16 points, respectively, followed by Dontray Leopaul with nine.
In their second game of the tournament, the Wolves fell 68-41 to Westgate High School. Darian Harmon and Dondrakus Joseph each led Rayne scores with 15 apiece.
In their final game of the tournament, the Wolves fell 66-46 to Hamilton Christian. Bonnom led Rayne with 11 points, followed by Notorius McClelland with eight.
During a home contest held Tuesday, Dec. 22, the Wolves needed overtime minutes to sneak by Franklin 72-70.
Rayne was led by Dontray Leopaul with 27 points, followed by Bonnom with 17 and a dozen by Harmon.
The Wolves were schedule to participate in the North Vermilion Tournament this week, Dec. 28-30. They will then return home on Tuesday, Jan. 5, when they will host Eunice High.
