Rayne High Wolves, Ladies continue district play

The Rayne High Wolves and Lady Wolves are both in the thick district action with both teams vying for district crowns.
Both squads begin the second round of their districts, softball presently at 6-2 and baseball at 5-1.
Wolves
In their last three outtings, the Rayne Wolves claimed three wins, two of them helping their district slate.
In a close district game, the Wolves scored two runs in the bottom of the last inning for a 7-6 win over Beau Chene. Hunter Keely led at the plate with 3 hits, followed closely by Brice Meche and Grant Abshire.
Keely picked up the win throwing the final two innings behind Ty Delaoussaye and Kameron Falcon.
It only took the Wolves five innings during their 13-0 shutout of Opelousas High.
Freshman Jaylen Reed threw entire game for the win recording four strikeouts behind a tight defense.
Ty Deloussaye was 3-for-3 on the day, while teammates Grant Menard, Matt Dore and TJ Bearb tagged two hits each.
In a non-district contest, the Wolves claimed a 10-0 shutout over Port Barre.
Tyler LeJeune took the mound for the win, throwing the entire game recording nine strikeouts.
Blase Meche was 3-for-3 at the plate for the Wolves, with Juter Keely and Tyler LeJeune connecting for two hits each.
The Wolves were slated to face Washington-Marion Tuesday and host LaGrange High Thursday and Notre Dame on Friday at Gossen Park.
Lady Wolves
During their last two outtings, the Lady Wolves picked up two relatively easy victories, a 22-0 blowout at Washington-Marion and a 15-0 shutout against LaGrange High.
In both contests, Rayne hurler Kelcie Bourgeois took the mound, spreading only one hit for the two days of work.
Leading the Rayne offense during the LaGrange win were Whitney Fontenot, Kristin Gaspard and Bourgeois, each 3-for-3 on the day.
In the Washington-Marion win, Fontenot was 2-for-3 on the day with 3 RBI’s on a double. Katelyn LeDoux and Kristin Gaspard each added a hit and 2 RBI’s, along with hits by Blair Bergeron and McKenzie Meche.
The Lady Wolves were slated to face Eunice Tuesday and host Crowley Thursday afternoon at Gossen Park.
