Rayne High Wolves named to 4-4A All-District Team

A total of eight Wolves were named during 4-4A All-District selections following the 2014 football season.
Rayne High, who again succeeded on qualifying for the 4-A State Playoffs with a very productive run, were led by five offensive and three defensive leaders, who were recently listed among All-District picks.
On offense, running back Deontrey Wilridge and offensive linemen Nick Dore and Grant Abshire were Wolves named on the District 4-4A Offensive 1st Team.
Wilridge, a talented sophomore who surprised everyone with a very productive season, averaged eight yards per carry as he finished the year with 159 carries for 1,037 yards. In addition, he tallied 90 touchdowns for the Wolves’ winning season.
Dore and Abshire will both be missed next year as they led Rayne’s offensive line during their senior campaign.
Completing Rayne’s offensive picks were John-Michael Besse and Hunter Adkins, both named during District 4-4A Offensive 2nd Team selections.
A newcomer to the Rayne squad for his senior season, Besse also surpassed the K mark with 1,052 yards (1,535 all-purpose yards) on 118 carries. He averaged 20 yards per carry and scored 261 touchdowns for the Wolves
Adkins joined Dore and Abshire on the tough Rayne offensive line for his senior campaign.
The lone Wolf named to the District 4-4A Defensive 1st Team was Desmond Cole. The big defensive lineman collected 15 lone tackles, in addition to 29 assists. His stats also showed four quarterback sacks and six hurries for a very productive senior campaign.
Noted among the District 4-4A Defense 2nd Team picks were Rayne leaders Donovan Cormier and Hunter Keely.
At defensive end, Cormier was an asset for the Wolves during his senior year with 32 solo tackles and 47 assists, in addition to six quarterback sacks and eight hurries.
Hunter Keely completed his senior career by helping the Wolves at defensive back where he collected 26 solo tackles and 22 assists, along with six hurries.
