As stated by Rayne High Head Baseball Coach Jason Bonin, the 2015-2016 Wolves were a young team and our record shows it.
Rayne High missed the state playoffs by one placement in the state ranking, basically what the Wolves’ season was throughout.
“We had a regrouping year,” Bonin stated of his young team. “We lost a dozen players from last year. That’s what you call a rebuilding year, and it showed.”
But, Rayne High has some glimmer on the horizon with five players named to All-District selections.
1st Team
On the mound, junior Hunter Meche was named among four All-District pitchers.
In the infield, sophomore DeMarcus James was noted at first base, while junior teammate Jaylon Reed was tagged as one of four utility players in the district.
2nd Team
At second base, Rayne High sophomore Alex Savoy was named, along with freshman outfielder Darian Richard.
“We have some guys returning next year who will lead our team,” Bonin continued. “But, we also have some younger players who will surely step it up and make a difference.
