Wolves fall to Crowley in season finale

RAYNE - The Rayne High Wolves split two touchdowns Friday during their last regular season game of the 2015 season against intra-parish rival Crowley High, but the Gents filled in the gaps for a 52-12 win over the Wolves, leaving the #2 state-ranked Gents with a perfect regular season and a district championship.
Crowley touched the end zone early in the first quarter with two scores, a pass completion to Jacqco Price and a 10-yard run by Tyvon Griffin, for a 13-0 lead for the Gents.
The Wolves looked like they would score as they entered the red zone, but a blocked punt attempt was recovered by Crowley’s Paul Dugar for the score to extend a Crowley 20-0 lead midway through the first quarter of action.
Trent Winbush made a 15-yard kickoff return to set up Rayne’s next drive. Following a completion by Donald “T-June” Doucet to Johnny Deculit and a solid rush by Winbush, a 15-yard touchdown run by D.J. Stelly lit up the Wolves’ side of the scoreboard for a 20-6 score as the first quarter closed.
The Gents opened up the score with four touchdowns, run by Keith Wilson, run by Tyvon Griffin, and two TD passes by Pate Broussard to Price and Hebert, for a 46-6 halftime score.
An empty third quarter brought about the final stanza when Doucet found Winbush for a 56-yard touchdown. Doucet boooted the extra point for a 46-12 score.
Crowley topped the finale with a Donald Francis rushing touchdown for the 52-12 Gents win.
Crowley’s Tyvon Griffin led rushing for the contest with 56 yards on 6 carried.
Rayne was led by Trent Winbush with 13 carries for 53 yards.
Completing the Wolf rushing game were D.J. Stelly with 10 carries for 27 yards, Johnny Deculit (3-22), Zach Fontenot (5-10) and John Daigle for a carry for nine yards.
Doucet hit the air for the Wolves on five occasions for 139 yards and a touchdown.
Rayne receivers were Trent Winbush with three completions for 113 yards and a touchdown. Johnny Deculit and Jaylon Reed each recorded a catch on the night.
Leading Rayne defenders on the night were Jaylon Reed,Nicky Faucheaux, Carl Davis, Austin Coleman, Jude Mire and Brant Broussard.
