Wolves, Ladies record distrct basketball wins

The Wolves and Ladies traveled to Eunice on Friday for district basketball action.
Both squads captured big district wins with the Wolves claiming a 56-45 win over the Bobcats and the Lady Wolves scoring a 65-24 slam over the Lady Bobcats.

In Rayne’s 65-24 win over the Lady Bobcats, three Lady Wolves scored in double-digits for the win, Charlesha Dugas (15), and Whitley Larry and Cierra Harmon each with 10. Dugas also collected six rebounds and 10 steals, while Larry had eight blocks and nine rebounds.
Rounding out Rayne’s top stats were Tanner Wilson (nine points, seven steals), Amari Collins (eight points), Tajane Butler (4 points, seven rebounds), and Tristan Mouton (three points, five steals).
In earlier action, the Lady Wolves traveled to Walker where they fell 58-54 in a close loss.
Leading 26-19 at the half, Rayne’s offense fell flat in the secod half and allowed Walker to dump in 39 points in the second half for the win.
Despite the loss, three Lady Wolves were able to score in double digits, Charlesha Dugas (22 points, 9 rebounds, 5 steals), Whitley Larry (12 points, 12 rebounds, 12 blocks) and Tristan Mouton (11 points, 3 steals).
The Lady Wolves were scheduled to host Crowley High this week in district action, followed by a road contest at Beau Chene on Friday.

The Wolves traveled to Eunice on Friday where they collected a 56-45 district win over the Bobcats.
Rayne grabbed a 16-8 lead in the first quarter and never looked back for the win as they were led by three Wolves scoring in double digits on the night, Byron Mouton (18 points), Drakkar Broussard (11 points, 7 rebounds) and Charles Jones (10 points, 4 rebounds, 2 blocks).
Helping with the Rayne win were Drekylon Gibson (8 points), Darien Harmon (5 points), and Trevon Fontenot (4 points).
In earlier non-district action, the Wolves traveled to Teurlings where they fell in a close one to the Rebels, 56-51.
Teurlings’ Cole Kelly led all scorers of the game with 22 points, along with 6 rebounds and 2 blocks.
Leading Rayne scorers were Drakkar Broussard (19 points, 11 rebounds), Charles Jones (12 points, 8 rebounds), Byron Mouton (6 points), and Drekylon Gibson and Dondracus Joseph, each with five points apiece.
The Wolves were scheduled to host Crowley High this week in district action, followed by a road contest at Beau Chene on Friday.
