Wolves, Ladies roundball action

The Wolves and Lady Wolves stayed busy during the Thanksgiving break, each participating in a holiday tournament.

The Wolves traveled to Lafayette and took part in the Acadiana High Tournament where they went down in two games for a short-lived stay.

With an open date Tuesday, the Wolves were slated to take part in the Lafayette High Tournament. In pool play the Wolves are scheduled to take on Abbeville on Wednesday, Acadiana High for Thursday action, and finish up with hosting Lafayette High Friday. Bracket play is set for late Friday and Saturday.

Action next week includes a road trip to West St. Mary on Tuesday and another at Abbeville Friday evening.

The Lady Wolves traveled to North Vermilion where they took part in the Lady Patriots Tournament, ending the three-day event defeating Gueydan in the consolation finals, 56-37.

In the win, the Lady Wolves were led by Toir Carriere with 14 points who netted two 3-pointers. The scoring was completed with a dozen by Charlesha Dugas, 11 by Whitley Larry, Cierra Harmon with eight, Tristan Mouton had seven, and Tanner Wilson with four.

In regular game action, the Lady Wolves scored a big 62-33 win over Avoyelles Friday.

Tristan Mouton shined with 18 points, three assists and eight steals on the night.

Charlesha Dugas dumped in 15 points and recorded six steals on the night, followed by Whitley Larry with a dozen points, three steals and six blocks.

Finisging up the scoring were Tori Carriere with seven, six by Cierra Harmon, and a bucket tapped in by Tanner Wilson and Tajane Butler. Wilson also recorded eight steals on defense.

In an action-packed overtime contest, the Lady Wolves fell to Iota High, 59-54.

Despite 22 points scored by Charlesha Dugas, the Lady Wolves fell just short.

Stat leader was Tristan Mouton with 16 points, four assists and eight steals.

Tori Carriere dumped in 10 points, with Whitley Larry recorded five blocks and six points in the effort.

They will finish this week with a road trip to Westminster Christian on Friday. The Lady Wolves were slated to travel to St. Louis on Tuesday, followed by another road trip to Acadiana next Friday.
