Wolves, Lady Wolves prepare for holiday tournaments

The Rayne High Wolves collected their third-straight win Friday with a 59-51 score over Abbeville High School.
With the score tied at 12-all at the end of the first quarter of play, the Wolves took a slim 25-20 lead for the halftime break.
Rayne retained the lead in the third with a 36-30 lead heading into the final quarter for the 59-51 finale.
Leading the Wolves in scoring was Byron Mouton with 23 points, followed by Charles Jones and Darien Harmon each with 10 points.
Drakkar Broussard and Trevon Fontenot each donated six points, plus four chipped in by Drekylon Gibson.
During Tuesday action, the Wolves hosted Breaux Bridge and claimed a 70-59 win over the Tigers.
The tight contest saw the score tied at 24-all during the halftime break, with the Wolves pulled away just enough for the 70-59 win.
Byron Mouton was the game’s high scorer as he dumped in 30 points for the win.
Charles Jones chipped in 17 points and Drakkar Broussard evened it out with a dozen for the Wolves.
The Wolves were slated to host St. Martinville this week prior to participating in the Jennings High Tournament next week.
Lady Wolves
Also during Friday evening action, the Lady Rams of Acadiana used a strong third quarter to move ahead of the Lady Wolves (11-2), handing Rayne only their second loss of the season with a 39-35 finale.
Despite a 24-point performance by Rayne’s Charlesha Dugas, Acadiana listed three players in double digits for the Lady Ram win.
For Rayne, Whitley Larry nabbed nine rebounds and chipped in five points, while Tanner Wilson dumped in four points, four steals and six rebounds during the loss.
During earlier action of the week, the Lady Wolves collected a 40-20 win over St. Louis High.

Tristan Mouton had 11 points and eight rebounds, while Tajane Butler and Tasia Duhon each chipped in four points each.
The Lady Wolves will participate in this weekend’s Lake Charles tournament at Sam Houston High School, followed by another holiday tournament next week at Northwest High.
