Wolves, Lady Wolves tough in tournament play

The Lady Wolves improved their season slate over the weekend Acadiana Lourdes SportsCare Girls Tournament held at Acadiana High School.
In the round-robin tournament, the Lady Wolves opened play with a 51-44 win over Lafayette High. Rayne’s Charlesha Dugas led all scorers during the game with 26 points in addition to six steals and four rebounds.
Teammates Whitley Larry and Tanner Wilson each tapped in eight points with Larry collecting four rebounds and Wilson with five steals.
In their second win of the tournament the Lady Wolves slipped past New Iberia Senior High, 47-44.
Dugas was again the high scorer with 20 points, along with six rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Larry tapped in 11 points and grabbed six rebounds for Rayne. Tanner Wilson donated seven points and five steals, Cierra Harmon netted four points and five rebounds, and Tristan Mouton with a trey, four assists and five steals.
In their third and final game of the tournament, Rayne shut down Carencro for a 66-54 win.
Dugas made it three in a row as high scorer with 18 points in addition to five rebounds, three assists and four steals.
Tristan Mouton dumped in 14 points along with five rebounds and five steals, while Cierra Harmon and Tanner Wilson each had nine points.
Whitley Larry held strong in the middle with 10 blocks and five power points.
The Lady Wolves were scheduled to host St. Louis Tuesday evening and Acadiana High on Friday.
Wolves
Rayne High hosted Breaux Bridge High School Tuesday when the Wolves claimed a 70-59 win over the Tigers.
The Wolves will be at home on Friday when they will host Abbeville High, followed by another home contest on Tuesday when they will host St. Martinville.
