The Rayne High Wolves baseball team is set to begin district play for the 2015-2016 season. But for Rayne High head coach Jason Bonin, this season will be one for learning with a 5-7 record thus far.
“Our pitching and defense have been very good so far,” Bonin stated of his young team
“Our pitching depth is actually deeper than I expected considering we lost so many starters from last year. Hunter Meche and Austin Coleman have been our two top guys; but, the rest of our six pitchers have done great also.”
At the plate, Bonin continued, “Jalen Reed and Hunter Meche have been our top two hitters; but, we just haven’t gotten enough support around them on the offensive side. We have kept many of our games close enough to win, but haven’t been able to hit when runners are in scoring position.”
“District is next week and we have seen some improvement in the last few days. This is a very young group and they are improving everyday.”
