Crowley High duo to compete at LHSAA State Indoor Meet

CROWLEY – Damon Guidry and Eric LaCombe will represent Crowley High School Saturday in the 2014 LHSAA Indoor State Track and Field Championships at LSU’s Carl Maddox Fieldhouse.
Guidry will be competing in the high jump while LaCombe will participate in the pole vault.
Guidry, who had a career best jump of 6-4 last season as a freshman, cleared 6-2 earlier in the month at the LSU Qualifier Meet to advance to Saturday’s championships. He is seeded third in Division I behind Catholic of Baton Rouge’s Chance Stephens (6-8) and Zachary’s Darryl Anderson (6-4).
LaCombe, a junior who placed sixth at the LHSAA Outdoor State Track and Field Championships last season, qualified for the meet with a jump of 12-1 earlier in the month. He is seeded 14th entering the meet.
Catholic of Baton Rouge’s Chadd Burns is the top seed in the pole vault with a jump of 15-6 while Walker’s Kyle Baudoin, Ruston’s Sam Haskins, Beau Chene’s Brandon Hollier and Vadebilt’s Patrick Watson each enter with a mark of 14-6.
Saturday’s action kicks off with the field events at 11 a.m. Running events are slated for a 2:30 p.m. start.
The finals for the Division I high jump and pole vault are scheduled for 4 p.m.
