Prep Roundup: CHS Ladies slip past Opelousas

CROWLEY – The Crowley Ladies used a 12-3 run in the third quarter to break open a tight game en route to a 42-31 District 4-4A victory over Opelousas Tuesday.
The victory boosted the Ladies to 6-16 overall and 2-6 in league play.
The Ladies had a slim 19-17 lead at the half before Myah Rogers pitched in five of her game-high 17 points in the third quarter to help push the advantage to 31-20.
Rogers added six more points in the fourth quarter and the two teams traded baskets with each scoring 11 points.
Alanna Plummer and Nykeila Winters added eight points each and Saquoya Savoy scored five. Taylor Dapremont and Chelsea Yokum rounded out the offense with two points each.
Lady Pios down Kaplan
KAPLAN – Then Notre Dame Lady Pios won their 14th straight game Tuesday with a 57-28 thumping of Kaplan.
The Lady Pios (21-4, 7-0) jumped out to a 33-17 advantage at the break and outscored the Lady Pirates 24-11 in the second half.
Alex Miller led Notre Dame scorers with 17 points. Hanna Esthay and Gabbie Romero followed with 11 and 10 points, respectively and Sam Lyons pitched in six. Elise LeBeouf and Hunter LeBlanc each had three points and Annie Matthews had two.
Lady Dogs crush Jennings
IOTA – The Iota Lady Bulldogs had 11 players contribute  in a 74-29 thrashing of Jennings Tuesday evening.
The Lady Dogs improved to 19-8 overall and 7-0 in District 4-3A with the victory.
Taylor DeVille and Whitney Landry paced the Lady Dogs with 14 and 10 points, respectively. Cambri St. Andre followed with nine points; Cameron Crochet had eight; Jillian Boone and Mallory Faul each pitched in seven; Alexis St. Andre scored six; Becca Fantroy had five and Patricia Deshotel had four. Taylor Dupont and Brittany Johnson each scored two.
Lacassine tops Midland
MIDLAND – The Midland Lady Rebels put up a fight, but in the end, the once-beaten Lacassine Lady Cardinals were just too much.
The Lady Rebels (18-14, 3-2) trailed Class B’s No. 2 ranked team (30-1) just 24-20 before being outscored 26-11 in the second half in a 50-31 loss Tuesday evening.
Kristen Breaux scored 17 points to lead the Lady Rebels while Nicole Kraut had six. Macy Hoffpauir and Brooke Comeaux scored four and two points, respectively and Katie Woods and Elizabeth Istre each had one.
Gents fall short
CROWLEY – The Crowley Gents made a run, but a late surge by Opelousas was too much to overcome in a 63-55 loss to the Tigers Tuesday.
The Gents (3-13, 0-7) trailed just 43-40 entering the fourth quarter but they had three players foul out in the final frame when they were outscored 20-15.
Marcus Williams paced the Gents with 26 points. Jacq’co Price followed with 12 points; Tiron Foreman had eight; Chris Lewis had four; Paul Goodley scored three and Mylan Stevens had two.
Kaplan edges Notre Dame
KAPLAN – The Notre Dame Pios got within one (37-36) late in the fourth quarter, but they went cold from there in a 41-36 loss to Kaplan Tuesday.
The loss sent the Pios to 10-13 overall and 2-3 in District 6-3A play.
Tre Milstead led the Pios offensively with 13 points while Ethan Smith had eight and Hunter Meche had six. Bryce Brandon added five points and Claiton Johnson and Alex Thomas each had two.
Jennings upends Iota
JENNINGS – The Iota Bulldogs fell to 8-15 overall and 0-5 in District 6-3A play Tuesday with a 69-56 loss to Jennings.
Garrett Reppond scored 22 on the night and Kyle Smith pitched in 15. Zack Hebert added six points; Luke Reed and Chase Doucet each had four; Curtis Antoine scored three and Triston Fontenot had two.
