Prep Roundup: Midland sweeps Hathaway

Lady Hornets
MIDLAND – Kristen Breaux and Brooke Comeaux combined for 30 points Tuesday to help lead the Midland Lady Rebels to a 47-37 District 7-B victory over Hathaway.
The Lady Rebels (17-11, 4-1) took a 10-6 lead in the first half before Hathaway rallied to tie the game at 19-19 at the break.
Breaux took over in the third quarter and scored nine of her game-high 18 points in the frame as the Lady Rebels built a 36-25 advantage.
Hathaway outscored Midland 12-11 in the fourth quarter.
Comeaux, who hit three 3-pointers, finished with 12 points on the night while Bethany LeJeune and Macy Hoffpauir each scored six. Nicole Kraut rounded out the Lady Rebels’ scoring with five points.
Lady Warriors slip
past Hackberry
CROWLEY – The Northside Christian Lady Warriors scored 23 points in the second half and slipped past visiting Hackberry, 33-29, Tuesday evening at Seth Trahan Memorial Gym.
The victory snapped a six-game slide for the Lady Warriors, who improved to 2-16 on the season and 1-4 in District 6-C play.
Hackberry actually took an 11-10 lead at the half before the Lady Warriors rallied to tie the game at 21-21 at the end of the third quarter.
Leah Monte scored six of her team-high 13 points during the run.
Monte added seven more points in the fourth quarter as the Lady Warriors outscored the visitors 12-8 to seal the victory.
Cydni Crozier added 11 points in the victory and Madisyn Clement had nine.
Monte and Crozier each had three 3-pointers on the night while Clement had one.
Rebels hold off
Hathaway
MIDLAND – The Midland Rebels improved to 21-5 overall and 6-0 in District 7-B play Tuesday with a 50-46 victory over Hathaway.
The Rebels jumped out quick and took a 27-15 lead at the break before Hathaway mounted a rally in the second half.
The Hornets outscored the Rebels 14-10 in the third quarter and got within four (49-45) with just 20 seconds remaining in the contest.
The two teams traded free thows in the final seconds.
Dylan Boudreaux and Dagan Patin paced the Rebels with 17 and 12 points, respectively. Traven Guidry followed with nine points, Randy Primeaux added eight, Devin Gautreaux scored three and Taatum Rubin finished with one.
Warriors cruise
past Hackberry
CROWLEY – Bradley Ancelet and Ty Wilson combined for 38 points Tuesday to help lead Northside Christian to a 74-50 District 6-C victory over Hackberry.
The Warriors (12-16, 2-3) led 37-24 at the half before outscoring Hackberry 37-26 in the second half.
Ancelet, who hit six 3-pointers, poured in a season-high 20 points while Wilson had 18.
Nick Martin followed with 11 points, Dillon Hayes added eight and Caleb King scored six. Jonathan Hermann contributed four points, Cole Henry had three and Tyler Johnson had two.
Bulldogs fall to Iowa
IOTA – The Iowa Yellow Jackets outscored Iota 22-12 in the second half to take a 47-32 victory over the Bulldogs Tuesday evening.
Iota (13-10, 0-4) trailed just 25-20 at the half but were outscored 8-1 in the third quater.
The Yellow Jackets then hit eight shots from the free throw line in the fourth quarter and outscored the Bulldogs 14-11.
Garrett Reppond led the Dogs with 10 points while Triston Fontenot scored six. Chase Doucet followed with five points, Bray Latiolais and Landon LeJeune each added four, Dylan Hebert had two and Kade Hebert finished with one.
Gents’ slide continues
CROWLEY – The Crowley Gents dropped their seventh straight game and fell to 8-14 on the season with a 61-40 non-district loss to Cecilia Tuesday evening.
Jacq’Co Price was the lone Gent in double figures with 12 points. Alkwan Wesby and Tyrin Daniels followed with nine and eight points, respectively, while Paul Goodley had six. Chris Osten added four points and Quanterral Robinson had one.
Abbeville runs past Pios
CROWLEY – The Abbeville Wildcats had 12 players score in an 83-53 District 6-3A thrashing of Notre Dame Tuesday evening.
The Pios (9-14, 2-1) fell behind 25-9 in the first quarter and never were able to recover.
Claiton Johnson scored 23 points in the loss and Ethan Smith also hit double figures with 11. John Duos and Hunter Meche each followed with seven points, David Gonzalez scored three and John Landry had two.
