Prep Roundup: Parkview rallies past Pios

CROWLEY – For five innings, the Notre Dame Pios gave Parkview Baptist a run for their money.
The Pios took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and were tied with the Class 3A perennial power, 4-4, after the fifth frame.
That’s when the wheels fell off for the Pios.
Parkview belted out nine hits, took advantage of one walk and three Pios errors and scored 10 runs en route to a 14-4 victory.
In all, the Pios committed five errors that led to 11 unearned runs.
Joe Faulk was tagged with the loss after giving up nine runs, three earned, on nine hits and one walk. He struck out three in 5 1/3 innings.
Sam Hoffpauir had two of the Pios’ six hits on the evening, both doubles. He also drove in a pair of runs. Taylor Faulk also had a double and an RBI and Brad Stoma had a double as well. Jacques Thibodeaux and Jacob Vicknair each had a single while Joe Faulk had an RBI.
Lady Warriors rally
past Starks in league play

CROWLEY – The Northside Christian Warriors rallied from an early 3-0 deficit and scored three runs in the fifth inning to slip past Starks Thursday, 8-5, in a District 7-C contest.
Starks took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning before the Lady Warriors responded with four runs in the bottom of the third.
Zoie Hanagriff sparked the rally with a bases-loaded triple that tied the game at 3-all. Brook Stanford followed with a sacrifice fly to put the Lady Warriors up by one.
Angel Allen pushed the lead to 5-3 an inning later when her ground out to third base plated Kathryn Zaunbrecher, who walked earlier in the frame.
Starks rallied to tie the game in the top of the fifth inning on one hit, an error and a walk.
The Lady Warriors had an answer, however.
With two outs in the bottom of the fifth, Stanford started the rally with a triple. Leah Monte followed with an RBI single. Another run crossed the plate on an error before Meghan Jones logged an RBI single.
Allen took over in the circle for NCS starting pitcher Madisyn Clement in the sixth inning and held Starks scoreless over the final two frames to earn the save. She gave up just one hit and struck out one.
Clement earned the victory after surrendering five runs, all unearned, on five hits and one walk. She struck out one in five innings.
Jones, Clement and Monte each had two hits for the Lady Warriors while Zoie Hanagriff, Zera  Hanagriff,  Zaunbrecher and Stanford each had one hit.
Lady Dogs hold
off St. Louis

IOTA – The Iota Lady Bulldogs exploded for nine runs over the first two innings and held on for an 11-8 victory over visiting St. Louis Thursday evening.
The Lady Saints got one run in the top of the first inning but Iota answered with seven runs of their own in the bottom of the frame.
The Lady Dogs took advantage of four walks and banged out five hits in the outburst. Shydee Johnson and Kate Stephens each had two-run doubles in the frame, Sarah Johnson had an RBI double and Lauren Miller singled in a run.
Iota added two more runs in the second inning on a bases-loaded walk to Rhi Stephens and a passed ball.
The Lady Dogs’ final two runs crossed the plate in the fifth inning on a two-run triple by Cameron Crochet.
Crochet, Becca Fantroy, Rhi Stephens, Sarah Johnson and Miller each had two hits on the evening while Shydee Johnson, Aymslee Johnson, Kate Stephens and McKenzie Armand each had one.
Crochet also picked up the victory in the circle after allowing eight runs on 16 hits and eight walks. She struck out six in seven innings.
Beau Chene blasts
CHS Ladies in six innings

CROWLEY – The Beau Chene Lady Gators improved to 6-0 in District 4-4A play Thursday with a 19-3 thrashing of Crowley in a contest that was halted after the sixth inning due to the mercy rule.
The Lady Gators led 10-1 after the fifth inning before exploding or nine more runs in the top of the sixth.
LaShonda Delco drove home two of Crowley’s three runs on the night. She had an RBI single in the fourth inning that plated Bailee Villejoin, who reached base on an infield single. Delco, who had two of the Ladies’ five hits, then added a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth.
Villejoin, Maddie LeBouef and Melania Doughty each had one hit on the day.
The Ladies aided in the rout by committing three errors that led to seven unearned runs by the Gators.
Kaitlyn Killmer was tagged with the loss after giving up 11 runs (six earned) on 12 hits. She struck out two in five innings.
Warriors blank Hackberry
CROWLEY – Dillon Hayes and Christian Morgan combined for a four-hit shutout Thursday to help Northside Christian take an 8-0 victory over Hackberry in a District 7-C contest at Miller Stadium.
Hayes picked up the victory after tossing five scoreless innings. He gave up three hits, walked three and struck out six.
Morgan pitched the final two frames and gave up one hit and one walk while striking out three.
Morgan also led the Warriors at the plate with a two-run home run in the first inning and a triple in the third. Nick Martin followed with a pair of singles and an RBI and Bradley Ancelet had a two-run single. Collin Atkinson and Luke Abshire also had one hit each while Kenneth Earles logged an RBI.
