Rayne All-Star action begins, tournament results

All-star season for the 2016 Rayne Recreation Department began over the weekend with a number of teams participating in area tournaments.
The four Rayne girl’s all-star team stayed in the city for the Rayne Rec Warm-Up Tournament played at Gossen Memorial Park.
The Pinto All-Stars and the Pony All-Stars both captured first place finishes, while the Mustang and Bronco All-Stars both finished the weekend with a runner-up trophy.
During action last weekend, the girl’s bronco and pony teams both placed second in their brackets during a warm-up tournament held in Scott.
All girls’ team will travel to Crowley this weekend where they will participate in the Kiwanis Invitational, followed by the Pony East Coast Regional Tournament.
In boy’s action, all teams were scheduled to participate in a Crowley Tournament over the weekend, but the event was a washout due to thunderstorms.
All Rayne boys’ all-star teams, except the Bronco All-Stars, will remain in Rayne this weekend for a Rayne Invitational Warm-Up Tournament.
Boys’ teams will then travel to Crowley next weekend, followed by a July 4th tournament planned in Erath. They will then begin district play the July 8th weekend in Rayne.
