Three SMSO correctional officers charged

ST. MARTINVILLE – The St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division conducted an extensive investigation regarding Correctional Officers bringing contraband into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center.

Investigators learned family members of some of the inmates were aiding deputies with money and/or illegal contraband and the deputies were distributing them to the inmates. The following individuals were arrested and charged with Introducing Contraband in a Penal Institution:

•Lachandra Joe, 27, Breaux Bridge, La.-Correctional Officer-Also charged with Malfeasance In Office

•Bernice Alexander, 30, Arnaudville, La.-Correctional Officer-Also charged with Malfeasance In Office

•Tramika Thomas, 26, Breaux Bridge, La.-Correctional Officer-Also charged with Malfeasance In Office

•Jessie Viltz, 31, New Iberia, La.

•Mary Olivier Viltz, 54, New Iberia, La.

•Moses Warner Jr., 33, Opelousas, La.

•Monica Deamer, 30, Lafayette, La.

•Leon Papillion, 31, Lafayette, La.

•Chamika Thibodeaux, 27, Lafayette, La.

•Roger Fontenette, 33, Breaux Bridge, La.

•Katina Patt, 35, Cecilia, La.

•Arthur Basaldua, 29, New Iberia, La.

Joe and Alexander were originally book on suspicion of smuggling and malfeasance back in August.
