Final pairing for Dancing With the Stars, in a Caring Way announced

Put on your dancing shoes and prepare to experience the power of giving, and everyone will need their best moves because Acadiana cares while “Dancing with the Stars 2014.” 

The Rotary Club of Crowley, Community Outreach Corporation and Crowley Christian Care Center will host the second annual collaborative charity gala at the Grand Opera House of the South on Friday, May 2, and Saturday, May 3. The Friday night event is a dress rehearsal only, with tickets costing $50. The gala on Saturday night will kick off with a pre-party including cocktails, hors-d’oeuvres and a silent auction. Festivities continue with the performance by the “stars,” followed by an after-party where the winners will be announced and dancing will continue with live music. Tickets for Saturday night are $100 each.

This gala event is not all about the festivities, however; it is also for a very important cause. All proceeds from the weekend will serve those most in need in our community through the three sponsoring organizations.

Eleven couples have been chosen to partner up and perform dances worthy of primetime TV. These dancers and their choreographers are all volunteering their time and efforts to benefit the needy, and from the looks of things, enjoying themselves at the same time. 

Dancing with the Stars is proud to announce the final couple and their choreographer selected to participate in this year’s grand gala. 

Brook Sarver: Sarver is the proud mother of two little girls, Bella and Nora Mahoney. 

After graduating from Notre Dame High School, she received her bachelor’s degree in accounting at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She now runs her own accounting business, B. Sarver Accounting, LLC. 

Sarver began dancing at the age of 12 at Core Dance Center and she continues to take ballroom dancing in her spare time. Since dancing has always been a passion, she is excited about being a part of this event. She also considers this an opportunity to give back to her home community. 

Sarver and her daughters live in Lafayette, where they attend Our Savior’s Church.

John Stefanski: A graduate of Notre Dame High School, Stefanski received his bachelor’s degree from LSU and his J.D. from Loyola Law School. He is an attorney with Edwards, Stefanski, and Zaunbrecher, LLP, and a member of the Acadia Parish Bar Association. 

An avid sportsman, Stefanski is a member of Ducks Unlimited and CCA. He is also a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, where he serves as a reader. 

Travis Guillory: Guillory is a graduate of Catholic High School of New Iberia and a current public relations major at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where he works as the development coordinator for the Office of the First Year Experience Peer Mentor organization. 

Guillory has been involved with community theatre throughout Acadiana for the past 12 years. He has functioned as an actor, technician, set designer, producer, choreographer and director for over 50 productions. He attended the Broadway Teacher’s Workshop in New York City and has trained with a multitude of Broadway directors, choreographers, writers, technicians and performers. 

He is the founder, artistic director and instructor of Kidz Kabaret, a theatre education program for children ages 8-13. He is also the writer and composer of The Undertaker and His Wife, his own original musical.

The success of this worthwhile event is based on raising money through sponsorships, ticket sales and online voting for the couple(s) of your choice.
