The #5-ranked Lady Wolves entered their last home district volleyball Tuesday when they hosted Northwest High during “Senior Night” acknowledgements.
In addition to honoring their seniors prior to the contest, the Lady Wolves kept their district slate spotless at 7-0 with a win.
The Lady Wolves are now slated to meet Ascension Episcopal today (Thursday) and then travel to Church Point on Tuesday for their last district contest of the season.
Post-season begins the following week, with teams advancing to the LHSAA State Volleyball Tournament on Nov. 12-14 at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner.
“We have been playing like we need to most of the time,” stated Rayne High Coach Stephanie Garrett as she and her Lady Wolves eye post-season. “We have a seasoned team with a lot of experience. If they can keep their play up to the level they are capable of, we can go a long way.”
Prior to Tuesday’s win, the Lady Wolves collected district wins over Crowley High and Iota High, and a non-district win over Sam Houston.
In their win over Crowley High, net play was led by middle hitter Tarya Kanonu with 8 kills and a block, followed closely by Layni Boudreaux and Charlesha Dugas each with 5 kills apiece.
The offense was led by Boudreaux and Peltier, each with 7 assists.
Katie Benoit led at the service line with 5 aces, while Charlyne Peltier and Blair Bergeron recorded 6 digs each.
Turning in the majority of kills for the win over Iota were Kanonu and Dugas with 20 and 19 kills, respectively.
Karla Richard led with 20 digs, with Peltier (23) and Boudreaux (26) in assists.
