Wolves fall to Washington-Marion, 42-22

LAKE CHARLES - The Rayne High Wolves hit the road Friday with the intent of adding a district win to their 2015 football season. But, Washington-Marion had other thoughts.
The Indians collected 427 total offensive yards behind a 332 rushing performance by Jacobi Taylor for a 42-22 district win (3-1).
The loss places the Wolves at 2-7 overall and 1-3 in district. They will meet unbeaten #2-ranked Crowley High on Friday at Wolf Stadium. The evening will also honor the outgoing senior players during their last regular home game.
Despite the final score, fans saw a slight 8-7 Rayne lead in the first quarter.
Following a completed touchdown pass by the Indians and an extra point in the first quarter for a 7-0 lead, the Wolves answered in the early second quarter.
Wolves Johnny Deculit and Trent Winbush turned in a couple rushes, setting up a touchdown pass from Donald “T-June” Doucet to Deculit. A fake extra point saw holder Jaylen Reed find Darien Harmon in the endzone for the conversion and a 8-7 Rayne lead.
Washington-Marion answered quickly with a Taylor’s first rushing touchdown of the evening for a 14-8 Indian lead.
Following the kickoff, Doucet found Deculit for a 76-yard touchdown pass, then booted the extra point for a 15-14 Rayne lead, their last of the ballgame.
On the Indians’ next possession, they were held inside the 10-yard line by the Rayne defense, with the Wolves taking over on downs at the six yard stripe. A fumble saw the Indians recover and score and take a 21-15 lead.
A quick three and out by the Wolves gave the Indians time for another score just prior to the halftime break for a 28-15 lead.
The second half saw the Wolves come out with a score as Harmon punched it in from a yard out. The extra point by Doucet saw Rayne close the gap to 22-28.
But the Indians claimed another touchdown in the closing minutes of the third quarter and midway through the final stanza for the 42-22 win.
Johnny Deculit led Rayne rushing with four carries for 28 yards, followed closely by Trent Winbush with 21 yards on nine carries. Darien Harmon recorded a rushing touchdown and collected 11 carries for 18 yards.
Doucet completed seven of 14 passes on the night for 166 yards, including two touchdowns and one interception, his first of the season since he slid into the quarterback position.
Receivers for the Wolves were Johnny Deculit (2 receptions for 81 yards and two TD’s), Jaylon Reed (4-for-78 yards), and Darien Harmon (1-for-7 yards).
Rayne tackles were led by Nicky Facheaux with 9 and 5 solos, followed by Richard Breaux (5), Tony Gabriel and Carl Davis (4), and Darien Harmon, Brant Broussard, Jaylon Reed, Austin Coleman, Johnny Deculit, Christian Svendsen and Cameron Gibson each with three. Trent Winbush, DJ Stelly and Timmi Bruce added two each.
