Fabacher, Schexnayder exchange vows during afternoon ceremony

St. Leo Catholic Church of Roberts Cove provided the setting for a wedding ceremony uniting Amanda Leigh Fabacher of Iota, daughter of Bill and Emily Seilhan Fabacher of Iota, to Patrick Adam Schexnayder of Abbeville, son of James and Suzanne Schexnayder of Abbeville.

The April 10, 1 p.m. ceremony was officiated by Father David Broussard.

Providing appropriate musical selections during the ceremony were Amy Whatley, Ellen Kay Baggett and Joe Stemplewski, trumpeter.

Dr. Philip J. Fabacher, godfather of the bride, and Gary Hebert, godfather of the groom, provided appropriate scripture readings.

On the arm of her father, the bride was radiant in a soft ivory silk taffeta gown by Casa Blanca. The fitted bodice featured a v-neckline adorned with vertical pleating and small, crystal beads throughout.

Her chapel-length mantilla veil featured scalloped beaded edges.

She carried an arrangement of pink hydrangeas, daisies, peonies and lilies intertwined with her late grandmother’s rosary and a locket in memory of her late cousin, Nathan LaCombe.

In keeping with tradition, the bride incorporated her maternal grandmother’s diamond pendent necklace as something old; a diamond tennis bracelet received from the groom as something new; her mother’s religious medals as something borrowed, and her late maternal grandmother’s ring as something blue. Finishing off her attire, she wore a pair of diamond earrings given to her by her godfather, Philip Fabacher.

Attending the bride as matron of honor was Rachel Shamsie, cousin of the bride. Serving as maid of honor was Katelyn Stanford, cousin of the bride.

Bridal attendants were Alyson Primeaux, sister of the groom, and Amanda Faulk, friend of the bride.

Attendants were attired in street-length gowns of navy blue. Completing the look of the dress was a v-neck, mock wrapped bodice that flowed into a flared skirt.

Each attendant carried a different flower that was represented within the bride’s bouquet.

Attending as best men were Mark Bouillion and Josh Boudreaux, friends of the groom.

Groomsmen were Ian Schexnayder, brother of the groom, and Garrett Fabacher, brother of the bride.

Flowergirls attending were Emily Primeaux, godchild of the groom, and Marli Shamsie, godchild of the bride.

For her daghter’s special day, Emily Seilhan Fabacher chose an ankle-length a-lined dress of royal blue. Completing her look was a matching beaded jacket featuring three-quarter length sleeves.

Suzanne Hebert Schexnayder was attired in a purple floor-length gown that featured a v-neckline and beaded bodice.

Both mothers were presented corsages of pink lilies and greenery tied with a cream ribbon.

Immediately following the ceremony, guests enjoyed a reception held at the Ballroom of Crowley.

The focal point of the reception hall was the bride’s cake table. The cake, served by her aunt, Sandra Seilhan, was a three-tiered confection. The top and bottom layers featured a quilted fondant pattern and the middle tier was adorned with piping with the fluer de lis symbol. Between each layer was beading. Atop the cake was a monogrammed “S” that represented the couple’s last name.

The groom’s cake was a three-tiered cheesecake bar that featured an assortment of toppings including strawberry, nuts and caramel. Suzanne Fontenot, friend of the groom, served the cake.

Out of town guests in attendance traveled from Oklahoma, North Carolina, Texas, Massachusetts and various parts of Louisiana.

Following the wedding, the couple will reside in Lafayette.

On Tuesday, April 6, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal supper at the Riverfront Restaurant in Abbeville. Guests were provided a menu created for the occasion to select their meal.
