Hanks, Dronet wed
Crowley’s beautiful Levy Park provided the setting for the unity of Amy Elizabeth Hanks and Marcus Anthony Dronet in holy matrimony.
The wedding commenced among family and friends at 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2009 with Judges John and M’elise Trahan officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Shelton and Renella “Lisa” Hanks of Crowley.
Amy is a graduate of Crowley High School. She is presently attending the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where she is pursuing a degree in visual arts. Amy has plans to become an art teacher and also a photographer after graduation. With plans to further her education, she will later attend Tidewater Community College in Norfolk, Virginia.
The groom is the son of Rhonda Monceaux of Iota and Mark Dronet of Lake Charles.
Marcus is a graduate of Crowley High School. He is enlisted in the United States Navy. After completing his basic training in Chicago, Illinois, he is now stationed aboard the USS Carl Vinson in NewPort News, Virginia.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, was lovely in a traditional white satin gown featuring a sweetheart neckline and a corset laced back. The beautiful creation also featured an A-line pickup ball-gown accentuated with pearls. The bride’s ensemble was completed with a chapel-length train. She wore a two-piece combination headpiece constructed of a rhinestone tiara attached to a white veil adorned with the same rhinestones. The bridal bouquet was of soft ivory petal roses and yellow temple bell flowers accented with soft white satin ribbon.
In keeping with traditions, the bride carried a penny with the year of her birth as something old, her dress was chosen as something new, her veil belonging to Amber Simon as something borrowed, and as something blue was a handkerchief with a print of blue hearts from her mother.
Attending the bride as maid of honor was her sister, Courtney Hanks. Bridesmaids were Shawn Ward, friend of the bride; and Jennifer LeBeouf, friend of the family. They were attired in cornflower blue toned, strapless baby doll styled dresses. The attendants carried bouquets similar to the brides’ with corresponding accents.
Standing as best man was brother of the groom, Samuel Wade Andrus. Groomsmen were James C. Andrus, also a brother of the groom; and Casey James Ward, friend of the groom.
As guests arrived they were ushered to their seats by Keith Monceaux, Russell LeBouef, Dwayne LeBouef and Horace Doucet, Jr.
Serving as flower girls were Cora Armentor, family friend of the bride; and Breanna Mae Andrus, niece of the groom.
Tye Cart, friend of the bride and groom; performed the duties of ring bearer.
On her daughter’s special day, the mother of the bride, the former Renella “Lisa” LeBouef, was attired in a fitted knee-length dress in canary satin.
The mother of the groom, the former Rhonda Monceaux, wore a light blue and taupe dress featuring a beaded design on the skirt. Topping her attire was a matching jacket. Both mothers were presented with corsages of soft ivory petal roses with embellishments of light blue and yellow accents.
A reception immediately followed at the Crowley Town Club.
The bride’s cake was a three-tiered confection enveloped in classic white buttercream icing, trimmed in light blue and yellow flowers. Each layer was filled with a different flavor including chocolate in the bottom layer, strawberry and cream cheese in the middle and cookies and cream in the top layer. Serving as the topper was a figurine of a Navy sailor kissing his blushing bride.
The groom was honored with a red velvet delicacy in the design of a crawfish pot filled with crawfish.
Following the wedding the newlyweds will reside in Newport News, Virginia.
On the night prior to the wedding a rehearsal dinner was held at the home of Horace and Carol Doucet, grandmother and step grandfather of the groom. Also hosting the social was the groom’s mother, Rhonda Monceaux. Guests were treated to a delicious meal of crawfish etouffee with all the trimmings.
