2014 Rice and Creole Cookery Contest winners named

CROWLEY - This year’s International Rice Festival Rice and Creole Cookery Contest saw a lot of great entries, with the judges having to work hard to determine the winners.

Shannon Dietz of Iota was named the 2014 Chef de Riz for the crab cakes he entered in the Adult Rice & Seafood Division.

This year’s Junior Chef was Bella Begnaud of Carencro, daughter of Donna Boquet and Tim Begnaud and a student at Christian Home School in Lafayette. Her rice and cashew entry in the Children’s Rice Dessert Division also won her the Children’s Division Tri-Color Award.
