Andre Lyons, Cody Bruce united during Nuptial Mass

Andre Elizabeth Lyons of Crowley and Cody Layne Bruce of Rayne were joined as husband and wife on the evening of Saturday, May 10. Fr. Gary Schexnayder officiated the 6:30 p.m. Nuptial Mass at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Crowley.

The bride is the daughter of Felicia and Marcy Lyons of Crowley. She is the granddaughter of the late Connie and L.J. Miller of Iota, and Alberta and Marcy Lyons of Crowley.

Andre graduated from Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish in 2010 and from the Cosmetology Training Center in 2013. She is currently employed as a cosmetologist at Salon Azure in Crowley.

The groom is the son of Danette and Eddie Bruce of Rayne. His maternal grandparents are Sable and Theogene Meaux of Rayne. His paternal grandparents are Lora Lane Bruce of Cecelia and Silas Bruce of Cecelia.

Cody graduated from Rayne High School in 2008 before earning his paramedic certification through South Louisiana Community College in 2009. He is currently employed by Offshore Energy Services.

Guests were ushered to their seats by Jason Benoit, friend of the groom; Jack Thomas Dupuis, cousin of the groom; and John Patrick Miller and John Christian Lyons, cousins of the bride.

Musical selections for the ceremony were provided by Will Green and Neil Simon, trumpeters; Kevin Martin, organist; Jodi Bollich, vocalist; and Tommy Benoit and Yang Yang Li, violinists.

Selected scriptures were read by Mandy LeBleu, Anna Fruge and Chris Lyons.

Given in marriage by her father, Andre was beautiful in an ivory Pronovias fit and flare gown with a two-layer sheer lace overlay. Featuring a strapless sweetheart neckline and fitted bodice, the gown was embellished at its waistline with a band of delicate bead work and finished in the back with a chapel length train.

The bride paired her gown with a two-layer cathedral-length veil trimmed with scalloped lace trim.

She carried a hand-tied bouquet of light pink and ivory roses mixed with  peonies and hydrangeas in shades of light pink, ivory and tan, all intermingled with delicate pearl sprays.

Samantha Lyons and Olivia Lyons, sisters of the bride, shared the duties of maid of honor.

The bride was also attended by Mary-Elizabeth Rippetoe, Claire Rippetoe and Elise Miller, cousins of the bride; and Katherine Parsley, Ruth Romero and Lauren Fontenot, friends of the bride.

The attendants wore pale pink floor length gowns with sheer lace tops.

They carried smaller versions of the bride’s bouquet made of light pink, ivory and tan roses entwined with pearls and hand-tied with satin ribbon.

Anzleigh LeBleu, godchild of the groom, and Demi Menard, friend of the bride and groom, served as flower girls.

Serving together as best man were Mason Menard and Blake Arceneaux, friends of the groom. Standing as groomsmen were Caleb Bruce and Timmi Bruce, brothers of the groom; Hunter Meaux and Michael Meaux, cousins of the groom; and T.J. Fontenot and Billy Thibodeaux, friends of the groom.

Jack Thomas Miller, cousin of the bride, and Hunter Bruce, cousin of the groom, served as ring bearers.

For Andre’s wedding day, her mother, the former Felicia Miller, selected a long blue silk dress paired with a sequined jacket.

The mother of the groom, the former Danette Meaux, wore a floor length silk taupe dress with a sequined bodice.

Both mothers wore wristlets of light pink and ivory flowers entwined with pearls.

Immediately following the ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed a reception held at the Grand Opera House in Crowley.

Guest tables were topped with tall vases filled with willow branches and ivory hydrangeas, and accent lighting set a romantic mood throughout. Of note were large artistic tower arrangements of fruits and cheeses.

A photo booth was present for guests to memorialize the evening with fun snapshots.

The bride’s cake was a five-tiered confection with lemon, raspberry, strawberry and German chocolate fillings. 

The groom’s two-tiered cake represented the groom’s love for golf and was topped with a teed-up ball.

Following a wedding trip to Walt Disney World, the couple is residing in Rayne.
