Babette Moreau weds Blake Foster in nuptial ceremony

Babette Rose Moreau of Lafayette and Blake Steven Foster of Franklin were joined as husband and wife on the evening of Friday, Nov. 1, 2013.

Judge James McClelland officiated the 7 p.m. nuptial ceremony at Esprit de Coeur in Lafayette.

The bride is the daughter of Anna Babette Miller Moreau of Lafayette and the late Clyde Leonard “Yogi” Moreau. She is the granddaughter of the late Velma and Charles Miller of Lafayette, and the late Doris and George Moreau of Marksville.

Babette holds a Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and is presently employed as a staff engineer with HLP Engineering, Inc., in Broussard.

The groom is the son of Lisette and Dennis Rivette and Ethel and Gene Foster. His maternal grandparents are Mary Kay Oakley delaHoussaye of Franklin and the late Judge Edward A. delaHoussaye III, and Mary Dickerson Foster of Franklin and the late Calvin “Shorty” Foster, all of Franklin.

Blake is currently employed as a coiled tubing supervisor with Halliburton in New Iberia.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her brother, George Gary Moreau, wore a romantic, floor length slim line gown with a lace applique overlay. The fitted, sleeveless bodice featured a plunging, scalloped V-neckline, and a pleated band defined the dress at its natural waist. The back of the bodice included a keyhole design that the bride customized by enclosing it with lace, and the back of the skirt flowed gently into a chapel length train.

Babette paired her dress with a lace-trimmed tea length veil and carried a hand-tied clutch bouquet of white roses.

Robin Lebouef, a longtime friend of the bride, served as maid of honor. She was clad in a black shantung floor length dress featuring a gathered Victorian style, ruffled V-neckline and pleated skirt, and she carried a bouquet of white hydrangeas.

Robert Fairley, the groom’s best friend, served as best man.

For her daughter’s special day, the mother of the bride wore a flowing, floor length lavender gown with a sophisticated shawl collar, criss-cross bodice and three quarter sleeves.

The mother of the groom chose a floor length navy dress with a lace bodice paired with a matching lace bolero featuring three quarter sleeves and a round neckline.

Immediately following the wedding, the couple enjoyed an on-site reception at Esprit de Coeur.

The guest tables were topped with candles floating in glass holders of varying heights decorated with black and white miniature garters and paired with faux pearl table scatters. 

The bride’s three-tiered almond-flavored cake was decorated with ivory buttercream frosting accented all over with pearl clusters and trimmed with ivory scrollwork on the top and bottom tiers. It was completed with a cluster of ivory buttercream roses on top.

Rather than a traditional cake, the groom enjoyed a cupcake tower including “Chocolate Thunder,” “White Chocolate Razzle Dazzle,” “The Dude” and “SoCo Butter Pecan” flavors. It was topped with the couple’s initials and a gushing oil derrick.

Departing guests were gifted with shot glasses bearing a gushing derrick along with the couple’s names and wedding date. 

Following a wedding trip to Disney World, the couple is residing in Youngsville and expecting twins this summer.
