Brandi Gail Schambough weds Nicholas Paul Pryor

The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette was the picturesque setting on Friday, February 21, 2014, for a seven o’clock Nuptial Mass uniting Brandi Gail Schambough of Youngsville and Nicholas Paul Pryor of Moss Bluff, formerly of Rayne.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Daurelle Schambough of Youngsville. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Raymond J. Dornak of Hallettsville, Texas, Roger G. Schambough of Scott, and the late Shirley McGee Schambough. She is a 2009 graduate of St. Thomas More Catholic High School, 2013 graduate of The University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and is employed at Sam Houston High School in Moss Bluff as the assistant basketball coach.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Louis Pryor of Rayne. His grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Habetz and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Pryor, all of Rayne. He is a 2008 graduate of Rayne High School, 2012 graduate of The University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and is employed by CITGO in Lake Charles as a process engineer.

Against a traditional musical background, guests were escorted to their seats by ushers Kyler Habetz and Dusty Pryor, cousins of the groom; Michael Bernard, godfather of the bride; and Blake Gilmore, cousin of the bride.

The double-ring, candlelight wedding ceremony was officiated by Rev. William Schambough, cousin of the bride.

Scriptures were recited by Roxanne Schrick, godmother of the bride, and Paula Landry, godmother of the groom.

Gifts were offered by Greg Dornak, uncle of the bride, and Kevin Habetz, godfather of the groom.

On the arm of her father, the bride wore an off the shoulder ivory Casablanca wedding gown designed with an all-over lace detail featuring beaded lace appliques and scalloped lace illusion neckline. The waist was enhanced with a customized belt detail of Swarovski crystals. Her fingertip veil of sheer illusion featured a rolled hemline and matching lace edging. She carried a bridal bouquet of ivory roses, white mini calla lilies, and her mother’s rosary.

Traditional items selected by the bride for her wedding day was a money holder created from her mother’s dress as something old, her dress and earrings was something new, her deceased grandmother’s rosary served as something borrowed, and the inscription of her wedding date sewn underneath her dress was something blue.

Attending her best friend as maid of honor was Sydney Martien. Bridesmaids were Brittany and Haley Schambough, sisters of the bride; Heather Gilmore, cousin of the bride; and May Beth Foreman and Victoria Jacobsen, friends of the bride.

Bridal attendants wore a variety of Jim Hjelm dresses in an azalea tone while carrying bouquets of stargazer lilies and white mini calla lilies gathered with a magenta ribbon.

Serving as flower girls were Joie Huval, cousin of the bride, and Annabelle Roy, cousin of the groom. Each wore an ivory dress gathered at the waist with an azalea tone belt while carrying pomanda balls of ivory blooms.

Attending the groom as best man was his brother, Myles Pryor. Groomsmen were Drew Schambough, brother of the bride, and TJ Fontenot, Bobby Powell, Ricky Judice and Spencer Ortego, friends of the groom. Ring bearer was Reid Powell, friend of the groom.

Male attendants wore grey tuxedoes with grey vests and magenta-toned ties. The lapels held boutonnieres of white mini calla lilies.

For her daughter’s wedding, Michelle Dornak Schambough wore a navy, floor-length, Jasmine Jade Couture Mother’s Dress of couture satin face chiffon and netting gown designed with a V-neckline, capped sleeves, a navy lace back, and crystal brooch. She was presented a wristlet of white mini calla lilies.

The groom’s mother, Lisa Habetz Pryor selected an “Ignite” deisgn by Carol Lin. The floor-length, floral lace peplum dress was topped with a matching jacket of a mortar tone. She was also presented a wristlet of white mini calla lilies.

Immediately following the wedding ceremony, the newlyweds were honored during a reception held at the Cajun Dome Convention Center in Lafayette.

Among the decorations and refreshments was the bride’s cake, a four-layered white confection with layers of pecan/coconut, red velvet, lemon, and chocolate with ganache filling.

The groom’s cake was a two-tier chocolate confection with peanut butter filling, topped with a duck decoy, and surrounded by shotgun shells and strawberries.

Following a wedding trip to Cancun, Mexico, the couple will reside in Moss Bluff.

Prior to the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner on Thursday, Feb. 20, at Fezzo’s in Scott.
