Brunch honors bride-elect Rebecca Johnson

The bridal attendants of Rebecca Ann Johnson of Egan, bride-elect of Ryan Joseph Latiola, also of Egan, recently hosted a Sunday morning brunch in honor of the betrothed couple.

Rebecca is the daughter of Belinda and Robert Andrus of Suffolk, Va., and Larry Johnson of Moss Bluff. Ryan is the son of Darlene and Keith Latiola of Iota.

Held at the home of the bride-to-be’s father, the Sunday, Feb. 9, brunch was hosted by Nancy Peace, friend of the bride, and bridesmaids, Alyson Madere, Jesselyn Green, Katelyn Deshotels, Barbara Benoit, Meagan Bourgeois and Katie Latiola.

As a surprise to the bride-elect, the hostesses arranged for the bride’s mother to travel from Virginia to be present for event.

The Johnson home was decorated throughout with Mason jars filled with fresh flowers in shades of pink and white and photographs of the engaged couple.

For the event, the bride-to-be selected a white lace dress with coordinating accessories, while her mother wore a black and white print dress paired with black accessories. The mother of the groom was clad in a royal blue sheath dress completed with pearl accessories.

Approximately 25 guests were in attendance, with out-of-town guests arriving from Texas, Virginia and various points throughout Louisiana.

Guests enjoyed an assortment of breakfast foods along with Mimosas. A “shower cake” made of cupcakes arranged and decorated to represent a wedding dress was served for dessert.

Rebecca’s maternal grandparents are Euna Hollier of Mamou and the late Auley Hollier, and her paternal grandparents are Dallas Johnson of Oakdale and the late Mary Alice Johnson.

Ryan is the grandson of Lucy LaCasse of Iota and the late Henry “Blanc” LaCasse, and the late Ovela and  Anatole “Toy” Latiola.

The couple will be wed on the evening of Saturday, May 10, during a 6 p.m. nuptial ceremony officiated by Fr. David Broussard at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iota.

Following their wedding, the couple plans to reside in Egan.
