Mrs. Sebastian Alverez

Erin Layne Melancon becomes Mrs. Sebastian Alverez

Erin Layne Melancon and Sebastian Alverez, both of Baton Rouge, were united as husband and wife on Friday, May 8, 2015, during a seven o’clock evening wedding ceremony at the Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Baton Rouge.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Percy J. Melancon and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Potts, all of Baton Rouge. Her grandparents are the late Leo and Rita Melancon of Rayne, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Claude Ezell of Baton Rouge. She is a graduate of Parkview Baptist High School in Baton Rouge, attended Louisiana State University, and is employed as a realtor with Remax First in Baton Rouge.
The groom is the son of Mrs. Anita Alverez of Baton Rouge and the late Jairo Alverez. His grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Mario Alverez, the late Mr. and Mrs. Gabriel Velez, all of Medellin, Columbia, South America. He is a graduate of Bishop Sullivan High School in Baton Rouge, attained a bachelor of science degree in landscape architecture from LSU, and is the owner/developer of Alverez Construction in Baton Rouge.
For the ceremony, the Most Blessed Sacrament Church Choir provided musical selections. Scriptures were read by Tom Potts and Lee Gallion.
On the arm of her father, the bride wore a Cristiano Lucci’s Nicole creation designed with an illusion upper bodice featuring beautiful hand-beaded designs and a bateau neckline. The mermaid-style dress was accentuated with all-over lace floral detailing and included a cathedral-length train. The multi-tiered veil of delicate, sheer illusion was held by a simple, but sentimental comb. Erin carried a messy-style bridal bouquet of cascading white and blush orchids and accented with white dendrobiums, cymbidiums, orchids and phalos, along with hydrangeas, draping dendrobiums orchids and a touch of Juliette garden roses.
Traditional items selected by the bride for her wedding day included diamonds from her grandmother Ezell’s wedding band as something old, her wedding dress was something new, a hair combserved as something borrowed, and a sapphire ring was something blue.
Attending the bride as matron of honor was Carolyn Roay, a friend. Bridesmaids were Rachael Russ, Jenny Enlow, Kelli Fountain, Lindsey Long, Melanie Wester, Melissa Jumonville and Ana Alvarez. Junior bridesmaid was Meghan Church.
The groom was attended by his best man, Carlos Alverez. Groomsmen were Jason Tanner, Alex Alvarez, Matt Mahoney, Jason Guerin, Patrick Hubbard, Peter Nelson, Darron Leach and Gabe Guerrero. Junior groomsman was Alek Tanner, and ringbearer was Lucas Tanner. Ushers were Ken Yurik and Efi Yurik.
Immediately following the wedding, the newlyweds were honored during a reception held at White Oak Plantation in Baton Rouge.
The special event was catered by Chef John Folse, while guests were entertained by the music of Boogie Man of New Orlenas.
Among the refreshments was the wedding cake, a four-tier buttercream confection reflective of the lace found on the bride’s dress topped with a fresh orchid topper.
The groom’s cake was designed to model a Colmago logo, Italian bicycle logo, as he is a competitive cyclist.
Following a wedding trip to include points of Italy (Amalfi Coast, Isle of Capri, Naples and Pompei), the couple will reside in Baton Rouge.
