Hanks, Hebert wed at St. Joseph Catholic Church

Courtney Reneé Hanks of Rayne and Scott David Hebert of Mowata were joined in Holy Matrimony on the evening of Friday, March 14.

The 6:30 p.m. Nuptial Mass was celebrated by Father Gary Schexnayder at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne.

The bride is the daughter of Lisa and Shelton Hanks of Rayne. Her maternal grandparents are Susan and Joseph LeBouef, and her paternal grandparents are Audrey Hanks and the late Dalton Hanks, all of Crowley.

Courtney is a 2006 graduate of Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish and a 2012 graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She is presently employed as a registered nurse at Lafayette General Medical Center.

The groom is the son of Janet and David Hebert of Mowata. He is the grandson of Hariette “Honey” Reiners of Mowata and the late Joseph Reiners; Carolyn Breaux of Iota and the late Raymond Breaux; and Jeanelle Hebert of Iota and the late Geary Hebert.

Scott graduated from Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish in 2007 before attending Acadiana Technical College and graduating as a residential and commercial electrician. He currently works as an electrician at Chris’ Electrical Service in Lafayette.

Guests were ushered to their seats by Joshua LeBouef, cousin of the bride.

Musical selections for the ceremony were performed by organist Kip Faulk, trumpeter Will Green and guitarist Steve Reiners. Reneé and Steve Reiners, aunt and uncle of the groom, provided vocals.

Escorted to the altar by her father, the bride was beautiful in a gorgeous floor length ivory gown with an elegant corded lace overlay. The bodice featured a scoop neckline and off the shoulder cap sleeves, and a Swarovski crystal belt defined the gown’s empire waistline. The back of the dress was a delicate sheer lace finished with a row of cloth-covered buttons down the center.

For her headpiece, Courtney selected a hip length ivory veil trimmed with lace matching her dress.

She carried a natural stem bouquet of lavender and ivory roses, seafoam statice, dusty miller and lisianthus hand-tied with a double face satin wrap.

In keeping with tradition, the bride chose her wedding dress as “something new” and a penny from her birth year, 1988, tucked in her shoe as “something old.” An angel pendant handed down through the generations by her father’s family served as “something borrowed” and “something blue” was a lace garter with blue accents worn by the groom’s grandmother and passed down to his godmother.

Amy Dronet, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. Jennifer LeBeouf, friend of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Ellioné Dupre and Rae-Lynne Mouton, friends of the bride and groom; Lindsay Broussard, friend of the bride; and Gretchen Swinkey and Katherine Swinkey, cousins of the groom.

The bride’s attendants wore dusky lavender chiffon floor length dresses featuring empire waists and sweetheart necklines. They carried bouquets of lavender roses and dusty miller wrapped with ivory satin with small bows at the tops.

Victoria Winfrey, godchild of the groom, served as flower girl.

Brian Comeaux, cousin of the groom, and Christopher Hebert, brother of the groom, shared the duties of best man. Standing as groomsmen were Nick Mouton, Jacob Cramer and Robert Wimberly, friends of the groom; and Bradley Reiners and Jude Reiners, cousins of the groom. 

Ethan LeBouef, godchild of the bride, served as ring bearer.

Selected scriptures were read by Toni Alston, godmother of the bride, and Karen Winfrey, godmother of the groom.

Offertory gifts were presented by Michelle Matt, John Reiners, Mallorie LeBouef and Hannah LeBouef.

For her daughter’s wedding day, the mother of the bride, the former Renella Lisa LeBouef, selected a short sleeved floor length dress in bordeaux-colored charmeuse. A pleated netting neckline, beaded embellishment on the front and a scalloped hemline added interest to the elegant gown.

The groom’s mother, the former Janet Louise Reiners, chose a charcoal gray bolero jacket featuring half sleeves, lace cuffs and a sweetheart neckline, paired with a charcoal gray taffeta sheath skirt.

Both mothers wore ivory wristlets with clusters of lavender roses.

Following the ceremony, friends and family celebrated with the newlywed couple at a reception held at The Warehouse Event Center in Rayne.

The bride’s cake was a four-tiered confection decorated with ivory buttercream icing. It was embellished with pearl drops and trimmed in pearl drop fashion on alternating layers.

The groom’s chocolate cake was iced in chocolate and contained cookies and cream filling. It was decorated with a Louisiana Sportsman logo in camouflage-colored icing. The cake was served by the groom’s godmother, Karen Reiners Winfrey.

Out-of-town guests traveled from Alabama, Nebraska, Texas and various points throughout Louisiana. 

On the evening prior to the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church reception hall, where guests enjoyed crawfish etouffeé prepared by the groom’s father.

Following a wedding trip to Gatlinburg, Tenn., the couple will reside in Rayne.
