Hensgens, Bertrand set Dec. 27 wedding date

Megan Elizabeth Hensgens of Welsh and Christian Michael Bertrand of Crowley have announced their engagement and commitment to be wed on the evening of Friday, Dec. 27, at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Trina and Thomas Hensgens of Welsh. She is the granddaughter of Betty Autin of Jennings and the late Junius Autin, and the late Gertie Mae and Conrad Hensgens.

Megan graduated from Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish in 2009 before enrolling in McNeese State University. She will graduate in December with a Bachelor of Science in nursing.

The prospective bridegroom is the son of Carlinna and Stacy Bertrand of Crowley. He is the grandson of James Allen and Barbara LeJeune of Egan, and Ites Bertrand of Crowley and the late Atris Bertrand. His great-grandmother is Mrs. Elmo LeJeune of Egan.

Christian is a 2006 graduate of Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish and a 2011 graduate of McNeese State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing. He is presently employed as a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.
