David McGovern - Marci Doucet

Island wedding ceremony slated

 

Malcolm and Margaret Doucet of Rayne are announcing the engagement and anticipated marriage of their daughter, Marci Elizabeth Doucet of New York City, to David Kavanagh McGovern, also of New York City, son of Stephen and Erin McGovern of Cranston, Rhode Island.

The couple will be joined as husband and wife on Saturday, July 19, 2014, during an intimate 3:30 p.m. ceremony at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church on the Island of St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands, where the couple met while studying abroad in 2004. A sunset reception will follow at the Asolare Restaurant on St. John’s.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Dorothy O. Leger, the late William “Fats” Leger, and the late Eby and Lillian Doucet, all of Rayne. She is a 2002 graduate of Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish in Crowley, 2009 graduate of Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in New Orleans attaining a bachelor of science degree in dental hygiene, and is employed as a pediatric dental hygienist in New York City.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Steven Kavanagh, the late Carolyn Kavanagh, and the late John and Helen McGovern, all of Cranston, Rhode Island. He is a 1999 graduate of Cranston High School East in Cranston, Rhode Island, a 2003 psychology graduate from Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut, and is employed as a sommelier at Le Bernardin in New York City.

The couple plans to continue to reside in New York City following their wedding.
