Outdoor ceremony joins Elizabeth Nickel, Duane Ledford

Allison Elizabeth Nickel and Duane S. Ledford Jr., both of Crowley, exchanged wedding vows on the evening of Saturday, March 8, during a lovely outdoor ceremony at Bayou Bend Country Club in Crowley.

Judge John Trahan officiated the 5:30 p.m. nuptials.

The bride is the daughter of Bonnie Harmon and Jeffry Nickel, both of Crowley. She is the granddaughter of the late Elizabeth and Harold Harmon, and Yvonne Nickel and the late Lloyd Nickel, all of Crowley.

Allison graduated from Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish in 2005 before attending Louisiana State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in business management in 2009.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Duane Ledford of Crowley. His grandparents are Ethel Leger of Rayne and the late Merton Leger, and the late Sally and Sherman Ledford of Crowley.

Duane is a 2003 graduate of Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish and is currently employed by Frank’s International.

Musical selections for the ceremony were provided by Olivia and Jane Ashley Parker, friends of the bride.

The bride, who was escorted by her father, was beautiful in a floor length ivory fit and flare gown by Tara Keely. The strapless sweetheart bodice was embellished with Alençon lace appliques, as was the tiered tulle skirt that flowed into a chapel length train. Allison paired the dress with a floor length tulle veil.

The bride carried a gathered bouquet of white hydrangeas, green hanging Amaranthus, green succulents, pink cabbage roses and blush roses.

The traditional items used to ensure good luck were incorporated into the bride’s attire. A piece of lace from one of her childhood blankets was tucked into her bouquet and served as “something old.” Her dress was “something new,” a diamond bracelet loaned to her by her grandmother was “something old” and her shoes were “something blue.”

Ashley Rath and Sarah Nickel, both sisters of the bride, served as matron of honor and maid of honor, respectively. Serving as bridesmaids were Beth Schefcick, sister of the groom; Kellie Duhon, sister-in-law of the bride; and Mary Claire Gilder and Rachael Ardoin, friends of the bride.

The attendants wore navy sleeveless jersey gowns with muli-tiered skirts by Kathy Hilton. They carried gathered bouquets of coral Gerbera daisies, lamb’s ear, soft peach cabbage roses and white hydrangeas.

Olevia Schefcik, niece of the groom, served as flower girl.

To serve as best man, the groom selected his friend Bryan Johnson. Groomsmen were Chase Schumacher, friend of the groom; and Jeff Duhon, Brice Nickel, Taylor Nickel and Johndavid Nickel, brothers of the bride.

Julian Duhon, nephew of the bride, served as ring bearer.

For her daughter’s wedding, the mother of the bride selected a black taffeta gown with a lace overlay jacket by Montage.

The mother of the groom, the former Fay Leger, wore a tiered dress in taupe lace.

Both mothers wore ivory open rose corsages.

Following the ceremony, an indoor/outdoor reception was held on-site at the country club. Guests were free to mingle under a large open tent, and entertainment was provided by a live band.

The bride’s three-tiered almond-flavored cake contained raspberry filling and was served by her nanny, Mary Melanson.

The groom’s chocolate cake, filled with chocolate Bavarian cream and iced with chocolate buttercream, was served by the groom’s sister, Jackie Ledford.

On the evening prior to the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Chef Roy’s in Rayne.

Following a wedding cruise to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, the couple will reside in Youngsville.
