Petry, Badon exchange vows in Gueydan

Leslie Rachelle Petry and Brandon Timothy Badon, both of Broussard, were united in holy matrimony on the afternoon of Saturday, Feb. 8. Rev. Corey Campeaux officiated the 1:30 p.m. nuptials at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Gueydan.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Petry of Gueydan. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Norma Bonin of Morse and the late Donald Bonin, and Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Petry of Gueydan.

Leslie is a 2004 graduate of Gueydan High School and a 2008 graduate of McNeese State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing. She is presently employed as a registered nurse with Acadian HomeCare of Abbeville.

The groom is the son of Mrs. Judy Badon of Gueydan and the late Timothy Badon. His maternal grandparents are the late Dorothy and Buford Marceaux, and his paternal grandparents are Mrs. Irene Badon and the late Audley Badon, all of Morse.

Brandon, who graduated from Gueydan High School in 2004, is currently employed by Murphy Oil as a production operator.

Guests entering the church were provided with programs by Kaylee Brown, godchild of the bride; Cheyenne Lacomb, cousin of the groom; and Brandon Lougon, cousin of the bride.

Guests were ushered to their seats by Daniel Petry, brother of the bride; Larry Lougon, uncle of the bride; and Raegan Istre and Shane Courville, brothers-in-law of the groom.

Music for the ceremony was performed by organist Kevin Martin, trumpeter Scotty Walker, violinist Yang Yang Li and vocalist Jodi Bollich.

“Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” was played as the parents and grandparents of the bride and groom were seated, and the wedding party entered to Pachelbel’s “Canon in D.”

The bride was escorted to the altar by her father to the sounds of “Fanfare and Trumpet Voluntary.” She was gorgeous in a fabulous ivory fit and flare demir stretch satin gown by Sottero and Midgely. The gown featured a sweetheart neckline with a ruched bodice that plummeted asymmetrically below the waist, and the train poured into a gorgeous balloon hem. To accompany the gown, the bride selected a cathedral length veil trimmed with embroidery and beading.

Leslie carried a clutch bouquet of ivory hydrangea, vendella roses, ink blue delphinium, purple stock, lysianthus, Picasso callas, ivory mini cymbidium orchids and wine dahlias hand-tied with ivory satin ribbon and a handkerchief given to the bride by her matron of honor. A sentimental rosary belonging to the bride’s grandmother was entwined.

Maggie Dupre Vincent, friend of the bride, served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Alyssa Labiche Martin, Marissa Davidson Guidry and Kandace Hartwell Hargrave, friends of the bride; and Candace Badon Istre and Megan Courville, sisters of the groom.

The bridesmaids wore floor length A-line gowns of flowing marine-colored chiffon by Mori Lee. The gowns featured criss-crossed draped bodices and ruffled one shoulder necklines.

Ashlynn Cooper, daughter of Jessica Mouton and Josh Cooper and godchild of the bride, served as flower girl.

The groom selected his friend Tyler Abshire to serve as best man. Selected to stand as groomsmen were Blake Istre, Donald “Bubba” Lemaire Jr., Ray Hatch, Blake Freeland and David Hardee, all friends of the groom.

Ring bearers were Tate Michael Guidry and Jaylon Shane Courville. Tate, the godchild of the bride, is the son of Korie and Damon Guidry. Jaylon, the godchild of the groom, is the son of Magan and Shane Courville.

Selected scriptures were read by Kimberly Lougon, aunt of the bride, and Holly Porter, cousin of the groom.

Gabe Lougon, godchild of the bride, was altar server. Gift bearers were Allison Chapman Istre and Malia Jackson, friends of the bride.

Following the wedding, a reception for the newlywed couple was held at the Gueydan Civic Center.

On  the evening prior to  the wedding, the groom’s family hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Gueydan.

Following a honeymoon trip to Antigua, the couple will make their home in Broussard.
