Reed, Meche joined in evening nuptial service
Madeleine Elizabeth Reed and Bryant Zachary Meche were united in holy matrimony on the evening of Saturday, Jan. 3, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Crowley.
Fr. Mikel Polson officiated the 7 p.m. ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Cynthia Clement Saxon of Crowley and Scott Edward Reed Sr. of Lafayette. She is the granddaughter of Charles Clement of Crowley and the late Dorothy Clement, and of the late Janet and Hubert Reed of Lafayette.
Madeleine is a 2008 graduate of Notre Dame High School and is currently studying petroleum engineering at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
The groom is the son of Kathleen and Jeffery Meche of Iota. His maternal grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Otis Primeaux, and his paternal grandparents are Linda and Russell Meche, all of Crowley.
Bryant graduated from Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish in 2006 and is currently employed by Halliburton.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride was gorgeous in a slim floor length sheath gown of English net with lace appliques and a mermaid hem. The dress featured a V-neckline with delicate cap sleeves, a low-slung back overlaid with sheer lace and a full button closure. The hem and chapel train were finished with wide scalloped lace borders, and the waistline was accented with a belt of overlapping diamond jewels tied with a trailing satin ribbon.
The bride paired her dress with a fingertip veil trimmed with pearls and beadwork.
Madeleine carried a bouquet of blush-colored mini calla lilies, off-white dahlias, seeded eucalyptus, white stock and blupleurum hand tied with cream ribbon and entwined with her grandmother’s rosary.
The rosary served as “something old,” while a pearl necklace and pearl earrings worn by the bride served as “something new.” Her toenail polish was “something blue.”
Kyli Butler Prem and Heidi Taylor, both friends of the bride, fulfilled the duties of matron and maid of honor, respectively.
Attending Madeleine as bridesmaids were Lindsey Reed, cousin of the bride; Kristin Meche Steen and Madison Meche, sisters of the groom; and Emma Simar, Jade Treme, Jen Trahan, Ariel Mizel and Dustti Dooley, all friends of the bride.
The groom’s friend Seth Humble served as best man. Standing as groomsmen were Scott Reed Jr., brother of the bride; Kyle Stelly, Chris Simar, Garrett McClelland, Josh Benoit and Justin Benoit, all friends of the groom; Nick LaHaye, cousin of the groom; and Travis Steen, brother-in-law of the groom.
Molly Clement, cousin and godchild of the bride served as flower girl, and Conner Fruge, cousin of the groom, served as ring bearer.
For Madeleine’s special day, her mother wore a foundation-colored silk chiffon gown with a sweetheart bodice that featured a hand-beaded lace illusion overlay with a scalloped bateau neckline and keyhole back.
The mother of the groom, the former Kathleen Primeaux, selected a taupe-colored floor length gown with a matching three quarter sleeve lace jacket.
Both mothers wore corsages of blush mini calla lilies, white wax filler and tree fern.
Music for the ceremony was played on violin, cello and trumpet. Will Green was the trumpeter.
Selected scriptures were read by Maggie Reed and Phillip Navarre.
Following the wedding, guests enjoyed a reception at Le Grand Hall in Crowley. The venue was decorated throughout with lanterns, birdhouses and fresh hydrangea arrangements. The food tables were graced by arrangements of white snaps, white calla lilies, white hydrangeas, lavender button poms, plumosus fern, seeded eucalyptus, beargrass and flat fern.
The bride’s cake was a three-tiered confection with buttercream frosting and gold trim on each tier. A gold initial “M” was embossed on the middle tier. The cake was served by the bride’s godmother, Joan Finley.
The groom’s cake was chocolate fudge topped with chocolate-covered strawberries and a gold initial “M.” It was served by Sandra LaHaye.
Out-of-town guests at the wedding travelled from Texas, Virginia and various points throughout Louisiana, as well as Canada.
On the evening prior to the ceremony, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Chef Roy’s restaurant in Rayne.
The couple is presently residing in Crowley following their wedding trip to Cosa Rica.
