Sarah Aline Miller weds Parker Reed Mitchell

Sarah Aline Miller of Crowley and Parker Reed Mitchell of Newellton were united in holy matrimony during a lovely ceremony held on the evening of Saturday, May 17. 

Fr. Gary Schexnayder officiated the 6 p.m. nuptials at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne.

The bride is the daughter of Lorraine Bennett of Rayne and Jack D. Miller of Crowley. Her maternal grandparents are Lois Bennett of Rayne and the late Harrison Bennett of New Orleans. Her paternal grandparents are the late Georgia and J.D. Miller of Crowley.

Sarah is a graduate of Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology. She is presently pursuing a graduate degree in social work at Louisiana State University.

The groom is the son of Jennifer and Scottie Nugent of Monroe and Billy Mitchell of Newellton. He is the grandson of Maurene and Billy Parker of Monroe, and the late Virginia and Billy Mitchell of St. Joseph.

Parker graduated from Sterlington High School before attending the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing, and Southern University Law Center, where he earned a Juris Doctorate. He is currently employed as an attorney in Crowley.

Guests were ushered to their seats by Trenton Leonards and Daniel Rider, friends of the groom.

A Magnolia Strings string trio provided musical selections for the ceremony.

Selected scriptures were read by Sumar Griffith, friend of the bride, and Doug Nielsen, cousin of the groom.

Escorted to the altar by her father, the bride was gorgeous in an ivory gown with a classic A-line silhouette. Feminine illusion straps complemented the fitted bodice, which featured a lace overlay, and a button closure completed the back.

Sarah paired her dress with a matching cathedral length veil trimmed with lace and handmade by Maldry Breaux.

She carried a bouquet of ivory, white and pale pink roses hand tied with material from her late sister’s prom dress and entwined with her late grandmother’s rosary.

In keeping with tradition, the bride designated the material from her late sister’s prom dress as “something old” and her veil as “something new.” Her late grandmother’s rosary served as “something borrowed,” while her pearl and rhinestone garter was “something blue.”

Elise Leonards and Madeline Gardiner, friends of the bride, served as matron and maid of honor, respectively.

Bridesmaids were Lindsey Boulet, cousin of the bride; Mariette Mahaffey, Jeanne Marie Maraist and Allison Citron, friends of the bride; and Maura Smith, sister of the groom.

The bridal attendants were clad in full length lavender chiffon dresses featuring sleeveless daisy lace bodices. They carried bouquets of baby’s breath tied with ivory ribbon.

Audrey Mahaffey, Eisley Reilley and Kate Boulet served as flower girls. They wore beautiful matching ivory pearl lace dresses with baby’s breath crowns.

The groom, who wore a handsome light grey three-piece suit with an ivory tie, selected his friend, Adam Credeur, to serve as best man. 

Standing as groomsmen were Lance Dupuis, Matthew Baronet, Matthew Long, William Casanova, Thomas Crigler, Jason Boulet and Peter John Boulet, all friends of the groom.

Matthew Baronet Jr. served as ring bearer.

The groomsmen, along with the ushers, the ring bearer and the fathers of the bride and groom wore matching three-piece charcoal suits with ivory ties.

After the ceremony, family and friends of the newlywed couple celebrated at a reception held at Le Grand Hall at the Grand Opera House of the South in Crowley.

On the evening prior to the wedding, the parents of the groom joined to host a rehearsal dinner at Chef Roy’s restaurant in Rayne.

Following a wedding trip to Riviera Maya, Mexico, the couple will reside in Crowley.
