Sarah Lawlis, Arlin Mire wed in Austin

Sarah Paige Lawlis of Georgetown, Texas, and Arlin Michael Mire of Austin, Texas, were joined as husband and wife on the evening of Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013.

Fr. Uche Andeh officiated the 7:30 p.m. Nuptial Mass at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Austin.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Stephen Lawlis of Georgetown. She is the granddaughter of Eleanor Rushia of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Dr. Virgil Lawlis of Bastrop, Texas.

Sarah graduated from Georgetown High School in 2004 before attending Saint Edwards Catholic University in Austin, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology in 2008. She is presently employed as a kindergarten teacher at St. Austin Elementary in Austin.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Corwin Mire of Rayne. His maternal grandparents are Lucy and Glen Kibodeaux, and his paternal grandparents are Milton J. Mire and the late Ora T. Mire, all of Rayne.

Arlin graduated from Rayne High School in 2002 and from Baker University of Kansas City, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration, in 2010. He obtained a master’s in business administration from St. Edwards University in 2013. Arlin is currently employed as a senior analyst-consultant for Black & Veatch in Kansas City, Mo.

Guests were ushered to their seats by Eric Beesinger, cousin of the bride, and Marc Rogriguez, friend of the groom.

Musical selections for the ceremony were provided by organist Brooks Whitmore; violinist Paul Robertson; and vocal soloist Brett Barnes.

Selected scriptures were read by Cheryl Beesinger, godmother and aunt of the bride.

Offertory gifts were presented by Lauren Bondy and Jane Rollison.

Given in marriage by her father, Sarah was a beautiful bride in an ivory ballgown by Waters Too. The silk lace bodice featured lace illusion spaghetti straps and a sweetheart neckline, and a pleated, textured organza band defined the waistline. The full, textured organza ball skirt flowed into a cathedral length veil.

For her headpiece, the bride selected a matching Waters Too ivory cathedral length veil paired with a fingertip blusher.

Sarah’s romantic, natural style bouquet was a mixture of white hydrangeas interspersed with stephanotis with pearl pins, white sweet peas, mini green hydrangeas, white stock, white peonies and cream hypericum berries, all complimented by gray-green foliage.

In order to ensure good luck in her marriage, the bride incorporated the traditional items into her attire. A penny from the bride’s late grandmother, Marjorie Lawlis, was “something old,” and diamond and pearl earrings from the bride’s parents were “something new.” A hair pin loaned to Sarah by her mother was “something borrowed.” A small blue flower tucked into her bouquet was “something blue.”

Lourdes Lozano, the bride’s best friend, served as matron of honor. Attending Sarah as her bridesmaids were Cari Beesinger and Madeline Clarke, cousins of the bride; Ariel Broussard, sister-in-law of the bride; and Ginell Elliot, Emily Davenport, Destiny Salkowski and Rhianon Beesinger, all friends of the bride.

The bridal attendants wore dark teal chiffon Allure gowns featuring off-the-shoulder cap sleeves and ruching that was gathered at the natural waistlines and finished with embroidered crystal brooches. They carried bouquets of white hydrangeas set in gray-green foliage.

Isabella Locke, Alexandra Locke and Olivia Locke, all second cousins of the bride, served as flower girls. They were clad in ivory floor length Alfred Angelo gowns featuring illusion necklines topped with crystals and pearls. Pleated organza bands cinched the dresses at their waists. They wore clusters of white roses and ivory ribbon in their hair and carried lace organza baskets.

The groom selected his best friend, Joe Guidry, to serve as best man. Standing as groomsmen were Brandon Racca, Josh Melancon, Ed John, Dustin Blanchard, Mikal Stall and Kash Sarkaria, friends of the groom; and Jeff Lawlis, brother of the bride.

The groom and his attendants wore Calvin Klein fitted black tuxedos paired with white shirts, black bow ties and white pocket squares. 

The groom wore a boutonniere of white roses and stephanotis, while the groomsmen wore boutonnieres of white spray roses paired with gray-green foliage.

Liam Guidry, son of the best man, was dressed in black pants and suspenders, an ivory shirt and a black bow tie. His boutonniere matched those of the groomsmen.

For her daughter’s wedding day, the mother of the bride, the former Kimberly Rushia, selected a floor length navy chiffon gown by Ralph Lauren. The dress featured illusion sleeves, a ruched bodice and large smoked crystals embellishing the gathered waistline.

The mother of the groom, the former Pebbles Kibodeaux, wore a floor length champagne satin dress with a black lace overlay. The waist was cinched with black satin and a rhinestone brooch.

Both mothers wore corsages of white roses, ming fern and gray-green foliage.

Following the ceremony, the couple enjoyed a romantic reception at The Austin Club.

The bride’s cake was a carrot cake filled with Bavarian cream and decorated with cream cheese frosting. It was trimmed with lace details and cascading white roses.

The groom’s two-layer square lemon cake contained raspberry filling and was decorated with a Louisiana State University Tigers motif.

Guests traveled from various points throughout Texas and Louisiana.

On the evening prior to the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at The Iron Cactus. Guests enjoyed chicken, vegetable and beef enchiladas, rice and beans and an open bar, as well as king cake for dessert.

Following a wedding trip to St. Lucia Halcyon Resort, the couple is residing in Austin.
