Stevi Stutes weds Mathew Bean

Les Chappelle des Attakapas at Vermilionville in Lafayette served as the unique setting on Saturday, March 29, 2014, for a wedding ceremony uniting in marriage Stevi Stutes and Mathew Bean, both of Lafayette. Officiating the 6:30 p.m. ceremony was Lynwood Broussard.

The bride is the daughter of Trina Arceneaux of Baton Rouge and Joseph Stutes Jr. of Rayne. Her grandparents are Franciska and Gerard Arceneaux, Anna and James Stout, and the late Joseph “J.C.” Stutes, Jr., all of Rayne.

The groom is the son of Greg Bean of Lafayette, His grandparents are Dr. Charles and Mrs. Leatrice Faulk of Lafayette, Jack Bean and June Hintsala-Kohn of Kenosha, Washington.

Guests were ushered by Taylor Edgens and Lance Arceneaux.

The bride entered wearing an ivory over blush fully lace mermaid-styled Stella York wedding gown featurng a sweetheart neckline and chapel length train accented by a crystal beaded belt. She wore crystal earrings and bracelet from Piperfield’s in Baton Rouge. Her shoes were Rose Gold open toe pumps with custom-made vintage lace shoe clips designed and made by Jolie Petale.

For the reception, the bride wore a vintage 1950’s ivory silk taffeta tea-length gown with crinoline underskirt, vintage pearl drop earrings, necklace and earrings, along with gold flats and a custom lace hairpiece by Jolie Petale.

The bride’s veil was an ivory cathedral-length veil edged with fine lace and beading, while her bouquet was an organic-styled creation by Mia of Root Floral Design including garden roses, flowering acacia, babies breath, craspedia, peonies and rununculus accented by gold painted leaves.

The bride’s something new was her dress, something old and borrowed was a piece of her grandfather’s shirt cut out in the shape of heart and pinned on the inside of her wedding gown close to her heart, and something blue was a sapphire and diamond right hand ring, a gift from her groom.

Maid of honor was Kylie Arceneaux, and Sarah Neeper-Moore was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Sarah Faulk-Doiron, Tiffany Trahan, Shayna Marae Arceneaux, Michelle Stonecipher, Racheal Duhon, Shannon Johnson and Camille Bauer.

Bridal attendants wore strapless dresses of silk chiffon in a vintage gold color called “Buttercup Yellow” by Allure Designs. The design featured a sweetheart neckline, empire waist and a flowing knee-length skirt. Each carried a gathered bouquet of simple babies breath tied with twine.

Flower girls Ava Arceneaux and Charlize Boatwright carried small white washed galvanized pails accented with lace and twine with a small antique white wooden heart on the front. The pails carried heart-shaped book page “petals” from the classic novel, “The Beauty and The Beast.”

Attendants Analise Arceneaux and Marlie Doucet carried six-inch bookpage flower wands with the handle made of driftwood wrapped flowing from book page flowers of ribbons in lace, chiffon and burlap flowers also created from the classic novel, “The Beauty and The Beast.”

Analise and Ava Arceneaux are the daughters of Timothy and Allison Arceneaux of Branch. Charlize Boatwright is the daughter of Sarah Faulk Doiron and Nicholas Boatwright of Lafayette. Marlie Doucet is the daughter of Sarah Faulk Doiron and Lonnie Doucet of Lafayette.

Best men to the groom were Thomas Johnson and Jordan Baron (Jordan wore USMC dress blues). Groomsmen were Mark Arceneaux, Andreu Stutes, Taylor Thibodeaux, Dustin Bayham, Tyler Belaire, Aaron Comyne and Patrick Desilva.

Groomsmen wore black Vera Wang tuxedoes with buttercup yellow bowties.

Sign bearers were Jack Timothy Arceneaux and Beau Thomas Stutes. Jack wore a child size version of the USMC dress blue uniform and carried a antique white wooden heart with a handle of ivory lace stating “First Comes Love” in gold calligraphed handwriting. Jack is the son of Timothy and Allison Arceneaux. Beau also wore a child-sized version of the USMC Dress Blue uniform and carried an antique white wooden heart with a handle of ivory lace that stated “Second Comes Marriage” in gold calligraphed handwriting. Beau is the son of Joseph Stutes Jr. and Nicole Thibodeaux-Stutes.

The ring bearer was the son of the bride, Braedyn John Segura. He also wore a USMC dress blue uniform, but his uniform featured the matching Chevron/ranking (Sergeant) of his future stepfather, as well as adornment of ribbon awards matching his stepfather. Braedyn carried an antique ivory wooden box with the rings of the bride and groom.

Immediately following the wedding ceremony, the newlyweds were honored during a reception held at the Vermilionville Perfomance Center. In keeping with the vintage theme, antique shutters displayed wedding photographs of the couple’s families. Antique windows displayed the hand-painted seating chart, while vintage books were wrapped in lace alongside mason jars filled with arrangments of the same flowers as the bride’s wedding bouquet. Vintage picture frames containing first look photographs of the couple’s bridal pictures were also noted, while guests signed a unique globe guest book. 

Guest favors included handmade bags with bookpage accents from “The Beauty and The Beast” containing coffee beans with a sign in front of favors saying “Thank You For Bean There For Us.” Crates with French Market pails contained glowsticks for the couple’s send-off included a rustic chalkboard sign requesting guests to “Let your love shine.”

Guest tables were decorated with lanters, floral arrangements, vintage painted books stacked with top book having painted table numbers. Linens were ivory tablecloths with burlap runners and burlap chair ties.

A sweetheart table that looked onto the dance floor was decorated with burlap, lace flower arrangements and vintage books.

The bridal party entered the reception hall to a New Orleans-style second line carrying white handkerchiefs that they waved to the crowd while the bride carried an ivory custom made parasol.

The bridal party toasted with apple pie moonshine in custom-made “cajun wine glasses” with design/etching by Rachel Boudreaux and glasses made by bride.

The bride’s cake was a four-tiered, vintage-style confection with buttercream icing in a ruffled pattern adorned with floral arrangements by Root Floral Design.

The groom’s cake was an almond-flavored confection with chocolate icing topped with the USMC eagle globe and anchor emblem. Decorations were green marine corps uniform/cover hanging from vintage shutters, grooms combat boots placed at foot of table, and photographs of groom in dress blues and with his (future) stepson wearing marine corps camoflouge uniform.

The couple departed via a glowstick send off, leaving the reception in a 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air driven by the same driver that drove the bride’s grandparents to and from their own wedding day.

The couple plans to travel to Disneyworld in Florida later in the year for a belated wedding trip. They will make their home in Lafayette.

The rehearsal dinner was held Thursday, March 27, consiting of a barbecue meal at the home of the bride’s maternal grandparents in Rayne hosted by Trina Arceneaux, the bride’s mother.

Stevi is employed as a secretary at Promise Hospital of Baton Rouge and is owner/events planner at Stevi Bean Events.

Mathew is employed as an armed security officer at DiBennedetto Security and is also a certified NRA firearms instructor. He is also a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and is currently enlisted in the Lousiana National Guard.
