Hoffpauir family holds 50th annual reunion

Labor Day event held at Indian Bayou church

The Hoffpauir Family Association marked a milestone — the 50th annual family reunion — Labor Day morning when family members gathered in the Indian Bayou United Methodist Church.
In recognition of its 50th year, each family in attendance received a free copy of the Hoffpauir genealogical record CD.
In addition, members in attendance was asked to introduce themselves and note their ancestors.
President Charlie Hoffpauir also discussed efforts to expand the DNA matching of the Hoffpauir family to its founder Thomas Hoffpauir with a goal of identifying his parents.
Four Hoffpauir descendants, Jean Arceneaux, Lillian Linscomb, Francis Foreman Clifton and Joyce Morgan, were honored for being 90 years or older.
Vietnam veterans, Bryce Collings, James Foreman, Gerald Perry, Melvin Spell and Wade Martin Spell, received special certificates.
The association also recognized the Rayne Acadian-Tribune editor, Paul Kedinger, with a special certificate and gift for his years of news coverage of the reunion.
The oldest in attendance, Mina Spell Ford of Crowley, 96; the youngest, Gage Lalonde; and the person who traveled the farthest, Buddy Hoffpauir of Arizona, were presented certificates and gifts.
The meeting concluded with the recitation of family members who had died since the 2014 gathering.
Jim Spell entertained the audience with two songs.
Rev. Larry Maxwell, pastor of the Indian Bayou church, gave the invocation and benediction.
