Hoffpauirs hold 49th annual reunion
The Indian Bayou United Methodist Church once again hosted the Hoffpauir Family Association reunion on Labor Day.
In an effort to streamline the annual gathering, President Charlie Hoffpauir made business matters available to members by way of a written report.
In addition to recognizing family members who were 90 or older, the association recognized veterans of World War II and the Korean War. Certificates were awarded by Thomas Weldon Hoffpauir, past president, to James Morgan, Larry Hoffpauir, Ufford Hoffpauir, Huey Hoffpauir and James Boyd Boulet.
Association souvenirs were presented to the oldest attending member, James Morgan (94); the youngest, Gage Lalonde (6 months); and
the person who traveled the farthest, Debbie Hoffpauir (San Antonio, Texas).
This year’s reunion also signaled the beginning of a project to scan ancestors’ pictures and documents to be shared on future editions of the Hoffpauir Family CD.
Jim Spell sang a selection of gospel songs to entertain members.
Rev. David Hoffpauir offered two poems and recited the names of members who had died since the last reunion in a eulogy and benediction to conclude the program.
Following the meeting, lunch and desserts were available in the Shirley Henry Hall, with profits dedicated to maintenance of the church.
