Miss Crowley pageant set for Saturday, July 25
This year’s Miss Crowley pageant, hosted by the Crowley Professional Women’s Club, is right around the corner.
Set for Saturday, July 26, at 6 p.m., the pageant, which will see the selection of Miss Crowley, Teen Miss Crowley and Junior Miss Crowley, will once again be held at the Grand Opera House, 505 N. Parkerson Ave.
Tickets are $20 apiece for reserved seating and available through the opera house box office, which can be reached by calling (337) 785-0440 or by visiting http://www.thegrandoperahouse.org/site.php.
Tickets include admission to both the pageant and the Queens’ Ball, which will be held at Le Grand Hall immediately following the crowning of the three new queens. The ball will include catered food, entertainment by a local DJ and a cash bar.

Miss Contestants
• Nicole Claire Taylor is the 18-year-old daughter of Chris and Missy Taylor. She is a 2015 graduate of Crowley High School, where she was a member of the prom committee, a football and track trainer, a cross-country runner, a member of the newspaper staff and was chosen for the Homecoming Court. She attended RYLA and was a member of the National Honor Society. Her civic and church-related activities include participation in Steubenville on the Bayou, the St. Michael Youth Group and Choir, staffing Vacation Bible School and serving as a lector and commentator. Nicole enjoys reading, photography, scrapbooking and swimming. She is also learning to play golf and the guitar. The recipient of several scholarships, she plans to attend McNeese State University and pursue a career in Sports Medicine. Her sponsor is Acadiana Smiles.
• McKenzie Lane Jabusch is the 19-year-old daughter of Bryan and Debbie Jabusch. She is a 2014 graduate of South Louisiana Community College and is currently employed as a tumbling instructor at Tumbling Tots and Teens and also as a swimming teacher. While in high school, McKenzie was involved in several sports, including basketball, volleyball, soccer and track. She was also in the Drama Club, participated in the 2013 Choices Program and was a volunteer with the Special Olympics. A Certified Nursing Assistant and Medical Assistant, McKenzie was an honors graduate and was awarded the Pink Ladies Nursing Scholarship. She has also served as a Bible School teacher, participated in St. Jude’s fundraisers and is a member of the Acadia Players and Pandemonium Theatre. In her spare time, McKenzie enjoys mud riding, hunting and shopping. She also spends time on the farm with her dad with crawfish and rice farming. Her sponsor is D. Keith Latiola, candidate for Sheriff of Acadia Parish.
• Heather Elise Trahan is the 20-year-old daughter of Sid and Elisabeth Trahan. A 2013 graduate of Crowley High School and also a graduate of LSUE with an associate degree in business management, Heather is currently employed as an accountant intern. While in high school, she was involved with the National Honor Society and Student Council and was a member of the Yearbook Staff. She participated in softball, cheerleading, cross-country, power lifting and track. Her honors and awards included the Calculus Award, an ACT Medal, the TOPS Opportunity Award and graduation in the top 10 of her high school class. Heather’s hobbies and interests include photography, fishing and frogging. She is also an avid duck hunter and enjoys cooking and baking, as well as math, fashion and solving puzzles. Her plans for the future are to continue her education at UL Lafayette and major in accounting. Heather’s sponsor is the Evangeline Bank & Trust Company.
• Brooklynn Paige Regan is the 19-year-old daughter of James and Celena Regan. She is a 2014 graduate of Iota High School and is currently employed by Sonic Drive-In of Jennings. While at IHS, Brooklynn was involved in the 4-H Club, FFA Club and Library Club and was a member of the Golden Girls Dancers. She was also a part of the Fashion Board and president of Jr. Leaders. Her college activities include playing dodgeball and preparing for rush during the 2015 fall semester. Brooklynn was also honored to receive the 4-H Scholarship. She has been a CCD teacher in Egan and she enjoys dancing and reading and also spending time at the gym. Currently a student at Northwestern State University, Brooklynn is pursuing a career in radiology technologies with plans to graduate in 2018. Her sponsor is Double L Customs.
Teen Contestants
• Emily Claire Taylor is the 15-year-old daughter of Monica Matthews and Jackie Taylor Jr. She is currently a sophomore at Iota High School and is spending her summer babysitting. Actively involved at IHS, Emily is a member of the Yearbook Staff and is also a Golden Girls Dancer. She enjoys playing volleyball, softball and basketball as well as 4-wheeler riding, photography and fishing. Emily also likes to attend church with her family and exercising and dancing. Her plans after high school are to attend UL Lafayette and pursue a career as either a dental assistant or pediatrician. Her sponsor for this year is Thib’s Auto Titles & Tags, Inc.
• Cyla Lynn Ledet is the 16-year-old daughter of Corey and Cisha Ledet. She is currently a sophomore at Crowley High School and is spending her summer babysitting. At CHS, she is a member of the Student Council, the track team and the basketball team. Her honors and awards include receiving TOPS and the Taylar Award. Cyla also volunteers at Our Savior’s Church in Opelousas. In her spare time she enjoys painting, baking with her mom, gymnastics, drawing, horseback riding, 4-wheeler riding, hunting with her dad and being with her family. She has also portrayed the Disney characters “Rapunzel” and “Belle” at area birthday parties. After high school, she plans to attend Louisiana State University and to one day perform cardiothoracic surgery. Her sponsor is Shabby to Chic.
• Alyssa Nicole Williams is the 15-year-old daughter of Thomas and Dawn Williams. Currently a student at Notre Dame High School, she will be entering her sophomore year this fall. She is a member of the NDHS basketball, track and volleyball teams, serves as 4-H secretary, is a member of the Quiz Bowl Team and is in the Honors Program. Alyssa is a member of St. Michael’s Church where she serves as a reader, an Altar Society Member and a member of the Youth Group. She has also volunteered with the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana. She enjoys reading and listening to music and hopes to one day play basketball or volleyball at the college level. She is also making plans for a mission trip next spring. After high school, Alyssa plans to attend Louisiana State University and study pre-law. Her sponsor is Rice City Gymnastics.
Junior Contestants
• Raina Audrey Bolduc is the 12-year-old daughter of Wil and Amy Bolduc. She is currently in a homeschooling program and will be entering the seventh grade in the fall. She is actively involved in various organizations, including Sunday School, Children’s Choir and the Girl Scouts. She has also been the recipient of the Bible Drill Most Improved Award. Raina’s hobbies and interests include music, art, reading, playing on the computer and horses. She is also knowledgeable about the use of sign language. Her sponsor is KP Gibson, candidate for Acadia Parish Sheriff.
• Mikayla Angelle Tish Clayton is the 14-year-old daughter of Amy Clayton. She will begin the upcoming school year as a ninth grader at Crowley High School. Her school involvement includes participation in volleyball and basketball, as well as three years in 4-H, having served as the treasurer and vice president. Mikayla’s honors and awards include perfect attendance for three consecutive years and the server award in volleyball. Mikayla is an active member of the youth group at First Baptist Church, where she volunteers for Vacation Bible School, Mega Sports Camp and Harvest Fest. She also assisted with Celebration Place and the play titled “The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus.” She enjoys singing, reading, dancing, riding 4-wheelers and horses and writing short stories. After completing high school, she plans to attend Louisiana State University to study Business. then continue her studies in cosmetology. Her sponsor is First National Bank.
• Taren Marie Adams is the 14-year-old daughter of Russell and Brenda Adams. She will begin her freshman year this fall at Crowley High School. Her school activities include participation in the Art Club, Jr. Beta and cheerleading. Taren has received the Honor Roll Award, was named to the CMS Homecoming Court and has scored at Mastery Level on the Leap Reading, Language Arts and Science Tests. She is an International Rice Festival Dancer, a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Youth Group, a dancer with Dolores Nutt School of Dance and a volunteer at local nursing homes. She enjoys hanging out with her friends, cooking and crawfishing with her grandfather. Taren is also fond of traveling, performing arts and learning about new things. Her sponsor is Fezzo’s Seafood & Steakhouse.
Jadyn Pauline Devillier is the 12-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sean Paul Devillier. She will be a seventh grade student at St. Michael School this fall. Her school activities include participation in the St. Michael School Choir, playing volleyball and membership in the 4-H and Student Council Clubs. Jadyn has received the Honor Roll Award and the Christian Award, has been nominated for Student of the Year and has placed first in the Social Studies Fair. She has assisted with the St. Jude’s Lemonade Stand, is a steward for the Acadia Parish Little Free Library, sings at LARC’s Christmas in Acadian Village and is co-authoring a book titled, “ABC is for Crowley.” Her hobbies and interests include playing formal piano, golfing with her dad and dancing. She loves everything Disney, as well as her 23 pets, shopping and listening to music. Jadyn’s sponsors are JC & Suzy Webb and Acadia Parish Farm Bureau.
Zoe Addison Carmichael is the 14-year-old daughter of Heidi and Kirt Credeur and Joshua Carmichael. A ninth grader at Northside Christian School, Zoe is a member of the volleyball team, the softball team and a cheerleader. She has received Speech Meet awards and Spelling Bee Achievements. Zoe is a nursery volunteer at Northside Assembly of God. In her spare time, she enjoys participating in sports, music, babysitting, watching movies, riding horses and 4-wheelers and deer and duck hunting. She also loves to make others laugh by telling corny jokes. Her sponsor is Carmichael Rental Properties.
