NAUW hosts 21st annual MLK Youth Musical

The National Association of University Women, Crowley Branch, hosted its Dr. Martin Luther King Youth Musical on Sunday, Jan. 18, at Agape New Vision Ministry Church in Crowley.

This was the 21st year for the annual event.

Joshua Richard served as master of ceremony, with Crowley Alderwoman Dr. Ezora Proctor offering a greeting and Chapter President Cynthia Winbush and Crowley Alderman Vernon “Step” Martin addressing the attendees.

An invocation was offered by Breanna Handy, selected scriptures were read by Josef Shelvin, a welcome message was given by Ariel Damon and comments on the occasion were provided by Renell Bias.

Musical selections were performed by the Agape New Vision Ministry Youth Choir.

A Praise dance was performed by the St. Joseph Baptist Church Train of Glory Praise Team.

Special guests included the Israelite Baptist Church Youth Choir, the First Church of God in Christ (Jeanerette) Praise Dancers and the St. Matthews Baptist Church (Gueydan) Youth Reflections.

The event concluded with the singing of “We Shall Overcome” and a closing prayer.
