Three Ten Club continues interesting program year

Members of the Three Ten Club gathered for their November meeting at the home of Valerie Trahan, with Virginia Duson and Louise Morrow serving as co-hostesses.

The meeting was called to order by President Sandy Melancon, and Gretchen Ohlenforst led the group in the club collect and the Pledge of Allegiance.

Patti Lawrence updated the group on the status of the proposed removal of the neutral ground at the Court Circle and East Hutchinson for the purpose of additional public parking. A public hearing held on Nov. 5 was well-attended, and, after discussion, the proposal was cancelled.

Georgie Petitjean “passed the hat” for the group’s annual angel tree giving to benefit Faith House. Members enthusiastically and generously donated, and approximately $250 was collected.

Plans were finalized for the club’s annual Christmas social, which will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 6 p.m. at the home of Patti Lawrence. It will be co-hosted by Mary Freeland and Ohlenforst.

During the “Getting to Know You” segment of the meeting, Muff Bier, Barbara Scanlan and Elaine Wright treated the group to some entertaining stories about their lives.

Following the year’s theme, “Criminal Minds and the Demons that Drive Them,” Duson presented a thoroughly informative program about two infamous serial killers: Ted Bundy and Son of Sam.

Following the program, the meeting was adjourned, and members lingered for fellowship and delicious refreshments. Members in attendance included Carolyn Barousse, Muff Bier, Bobbie delaHoussaye, Isabella delaHoussaye, Duson, Betty Faulk, Jackie Fogleman, Letza Fogleman, Freeland, Kay Fruge, Sissy Gall, Suzanne Gray, Catherine Hodges, Brucie Landry, Lawrence, Melancon, Morrow, Ohlenforst, Petitjean, Peggy Sandidge, Esther Trahan, M’elise Trahan and Valerie Trahan. Associate members in attendance were Sarah Bercier, Barbara Scanlan and Elaine Wright.
