Ida Lavergne Cormier

Funeral services were held at Gossen Funeral Home Chapel, Monday, June 13, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. for Ida Lavergne Cormier, 94, who died Friday, June 10, 2011, in Rayne Guest Home, Rayne.

Interment was in the Assumption of the BVM Cemetery, Mire.

Surviving are three daughters, Anna Mae Doucet and husband, Robert, of Mowata, Shirley Douga of Rayne, and Louise Trahan and husband, Glenn, of Duson; four sons, Norris Cormier and wife, Louise, of Rayne, Aaron Cormier and wife, Norma of Cankton, Travis Cormier and wife, Linda, of Rayne, and Raymond Cormier and wife, Lula Mae, of Rayne; thirty grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren; twenty-seven great- great-grandchildren; expecting one great- grandchild; expecting two great-great-grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; twenty- one great-grandchildren nine step-great- great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by first husband, Arvillian Cormier; second husband, Alexson; two daughters, Mary Jane Soileau and Earline Richard; two sons-in-law, Joseph “Snook” Soileau and Lionel “Black” Douga; one grandchild; two great grandchildren; and one great-great -grandchild; parents, Louise Roach Lavergne and Hubert Lavergne; two sisters, Etta Domingue and Delta Calvert; and one brother, Wallace Badeaux.

She was born Sunday, December 17, 1916 in Acadia Parish, daughter of the late Hubert Lavergne and the late Louise Roach Lavergne.

A rosary was recited Sunday, June 12, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. ,at Gossen Funeral Home.

Friends were received at Gossen Funeral Home, Inc., Rayne, Sunday, June 12, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and Monday, June 13, 2011, from 8:00 a.m. until service time.

A special thanks to the Rayne Guest Home staff for their great service and care that they have provided over the 10 years that she was a resident there. Also , the family would like to recognize Ms. Betty Granger for her kindness and for taking time each day to brighten Mrs. Cormier’s day with conversation and a cup of coffee..
