Lyle O. Fogleman Jr. has announced his intention to see re-election to the Ward II, Division B seat on the Crowley City Council.

His announcement is as follows:

“Having the privilege to serve as a councilman for Ward II has given me an abundance of insight and knowledge regarding the day to day operations of our great city, the needs of our citizens and the financial constrains we face.  A delicate balance is required in prioritizing our city’s needs while maintaining a sound financial base.

“Currently, I serve as chairman of the Public Safety Committee. This committee encompasses two primary departments in our city — the Crowley Police Department and the Crowley Fire Department. The safety and security of our citizens is priority number one. It is of paramount importance we continue to provide the funding required to maintain the services provided which directly contribute to the quality of life enjoyed in Crowley.

“I also serve as a member of the Public Works, Utility, Public Buildings and Recreation Committees. These committees provide vital benefits and services to our city. Each of which contributes to the appeal, functionality and ability to adapt and provide for future improvements and growth Crowley has to offer new comers, businesses and industry.

“Crowley, through careful planning and annexation, is growing. The property annexed a few years ago north of Interstate 10 now has lighting on North Highway 13. The long discussed and awaited North I-10 service road linking Crowley’s two I-10 exits (Exit 80 & 82) WILL FINALLY BREAK GROUND at the end of 2014 or beginning of 2015! The property north of I-10 will be developed providing an opportunity for new business, increased employment and additional goods and services to our community. Positive growth.

“Growth is the key! However, decisions made today must result through careful consideration of current needs with future consequences. Carefully planned growth yields positive results. Positive results fuel additional growth. Additional growth provides prosperity. Growth and prosperity enhance our quality of life. Growth, prosperity and quality of life make for a unique community sought by many.

“A simple theory, but an extremely difficult and daunting task.  Growth for the sake of growth is not necessarily positive. However, positive growth enhances all aspects of a unique community.

“As a councilman from Ward II, it is with this mindset I serve our city. A goal currently in motion and a goal that will continue to be achieved. Time is the enabler but only if utilized through thoughtful consideration.”

Fogleman, a local attorney, is married to the former Letza Bendele of Slidell and is the father of two daughters, Lyska Ja’net (19) and Lynzie Claire (15). He is a graduate of Notre Dame High School, obtained a bachelor’s degree from LSU, a master’s degree from the University of London’s Wye College and his Juris Doctorate from Southern Law Center.

Over the years Fogleman has been an active member of the community having served as president of the Crowley Chamber of Commerce, secretary and then president of the Rotary Club of Crowley, president of the Acadia Parish Bar Association, a member of the St. Michael Parish Council and a member of the St. Michael School Board.

“In closing, it has been my honor to serve the constituents of Ward II, as their voice on the Crowley City Council,” Fogleman said. “I am always available and can be reached at 788-1111 during the day or 788-2203 during the evening. On November 4, 2014, I would appreciate your vote and support for re-election to the Crowley City Council as your Ward II, Division B councilman.”
