Cronin is candidate for police chief

Madeline Robinson Cronin is announcing her candidacy for the office of Chief of the Crowley Police Department.

Her statement of candidacy follows:

I, Madeline Robinson Cronin want to announce my candidacy for Chief of Police for Crowley.

I am a native of Crowley and was born and raised in our wonderful town. I left Crowley to serve our nation’s defense in the United States Army. While serving in the Army, I obtained nine years of law enforcement experience in both combat operations and peace-time operations where I obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant. 

I served in Fort Hood, Texas, Bauhmholder, Germany, Fort Riley, Kan., one combat tour in Iraq and special missions in Kosovo.

I further obtained a degree in criminal justice. I was assigned the position of day-to-day police operations and investigations at Fort Riley, which entailed coordinating efforts with local law enforcement agencies as well as the military’s Criminal Investigation Division.

While stationed in Germany, I was responsible for patrolling and supervising the patrol officers during routine patrols. Upon ending my career in the military with an honorable discharge, I worked and continue to work in the private sector in investigations. I have over 15 years of law enforcement and investigation experience. 

One of my central goals if selected as chief of police would be to introduce new programs that further promote Crowley’s reputation as a safe, attractive community. I envision the police department doing even more to make Crowley the type of community that encourages businesses and families to make it their permanent home.

I care deeply about our city because I reside here, as well as my children, parents, grandparents, cousins and siblings, as well as loved ones. I believe that each and every person deserves respect and to be treated with courtesy regardless of the situation. 

I want the community to take pride in the police department as well as the police department take pride in the community and establish a working relationship between both the community and police department. I want to establish a presence of our officers by initiating walking patrols and bicycle patrols in our neighborhoods.

I possess strong leadership skills and have earned the respect of my peers and superiors. I pride myself on being fair, professional, consistent and one who goes the extra mile to resolve issues.  

I am the proud mother of two sons Bryce, age 8, and Bailey, age 6. I have been married for 15 years to Anderson Cronin who is a native of Branson, Mo.

I am the daughter of Floyd Robinson and Camille Belsom Robinson and the granddaughter of Camille Belsom, Floy Smith Belsom, Darcy Robinson, and Virgie Prejean Robinson.  

I look forward to serving our city as your next Chief of Police.

The primary election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 4 with a runoff, if necessary, to be held on Saturday, Dec. 6.

Qualifying for the primary election will be Aug. 20, 21 and 22.
